Signs & Road Markings Supervisor
Department: Public Works Start Here. Grow Here. Stay Here. Supervises and oversees Traffic Operations staff, daily activities and functions of assigned work crews for both routine and emergency maintenance; arranges necessary equipment, tools and assistance from others as needed; reviews and monitors safety of workers and equipment; ensures correct time and materials are charged for work performed; interfaces with departments, divisions, and internal staff on issues related to budgeting, staffing, discipline of employees, training/development, scheduling and other activities involving discretion and judgment. + Plan, organize, and schedule daily operations for assigned work crews and monitor the activity logs. + Ensure crew safety by reviewing procedures, providing safety training, and managing accident reporting. + Manage emergency responses by assigning crews and coordinating urgent operations. + Train and develop staff on equipment usage and operational procedures. + Utilize computerized systems for scheduling, time management, and inventory tracking. + Coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and government agencies to ensure regulatory compliance. + Monitor work performance and assist with process improvements, workload prioritization, and supply management. + Manage talent, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and business planning. + Oversee Road Marking and Signage Programs, including planning, budgeting, contract management, and project execution. + Review engineering plans and contractor work, manage procurement, and approve invoices for traffic-related installations. Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. About You Minimum Qualifications: + A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field . + - OR - A Two (2) year associate's degree AND two (2) years of experience in maintenance, general operations, or related field. + - OR - A High School diploma AND four (4) years of related experience in maintenance, general operations, or related field. + One year of supervisory experience (lead worker or acting in a supervisory capacity may be counted) in maintenance, general operations, or related field. + A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire. + The ability to obtain a Fork-Lift Certification within one year from the time of hire. + The ability to obtain a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) within two (2) years from the time of hire. + The ability to obtain an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II within two (2) years from the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications: + Trade school diploma related to Traffic Engineering and Operations Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. ** Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
