Position Overview 
The mission of Siemens BuildingX platform is to simplify and accelerate digital transformation in the building industry by providing a unified, open, and scalable platform for managing building operations across multiple systems and vendors. BuildingX Platform brings together data and systems from across a building (e.g., HVAC, lighting, security, energy management and workplace) into a single platform, eliminating silos. It supports sustainability by optimizing energy usage, reducing emissions, and helping buildings meet ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. By using AI, analytics, and automation, BuildingX helps facility managers operate buildings more efficiently and proactively. And it is designed to be vendor-agnostic, meaning it can integrate with third-party devices and systems, not just Siemens products.  
SI Buildings Software Tech Unit’s (SI B SW) mission is to build this BuildingX digital business platform that offers modular, cloud-based services that can scale with the needs of the building or portfolio.  
VP, IOT Engineering, is an outstanding opportunity to work across a wide range of IOT services and applications to realize the SI B SW’s vision. You'll have a chance to work alongside recognized product and software visionaries, creating platform that is, at a fundamental level, changing the way building systems and human communicate to operate at optimal level and make a better place. 
 Responsibilities 
In this role you will: 
Create short term and long term ramp down strategy for Enlighted IOT and execute it. 
Lead the legal entity ramp down and liquidation 
Manage the customer contract end of life and ensure customer service / support through the ramp down period 
Manage the Enlighted IOT ramp down in a controlled and optimized cost 
Lead our engineering team, developing the capabilities of that team through hiring, mentoring, and hands-on management 
Work with your team to define an operational rhythm that balances high output with sustainable development. We care about what we build and how we build it. 
Guide decisions around the long-term technical direction of architecture 
Balance near-term priorities with longer-term bets, exercising strong judgment about which problems need a just-enough solution and which require deeper investment 
Represent the Engineering team across the company. For example, understanding top-line business priorities and aligning your team's work to them, or ensuring our platform meets the requirements of our enterprise customers. 
Ensure our service is available 24/7 by defining our operations, prioritizing the right investments to support this goal, and helping to identify strategic investments that will improve our security, privacy, scalability, and availability

You have honed a broad set of management skills, including building teams with a diverse set of backgrounds around the world and growing other managers. 
You have experience leading teams building cloud-based distributed systems and can guide our platform through scale curves and avoid common pitfalls. Experience with modern, cloud-first architecture is a must.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience  
Knowledge / skills: 
Technical skills: 
Deep knowledge of atleast one of the Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services related to compute, storage, networking, and security. 
IoT Ecosystem: MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, HTTP/HTTPS 
Software Architecture: Microservices, Event-driven architecture, Serverless 
API design (REST/GraphQL): Scalable, high-availability system design 
Data Engineering & Analytics: Real-time data processing (Kafka, Spark), Time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) 
Security: Understanding of IoT and cloud security best practices, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and secure communication. 
Engineering Management & DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) 
SDLC management using Agile/Scrum/Kanban: Quality assurance, test automation 
Technical debt management and code quality standards 
Leadership & Strategy: Create and execute the 1-to-5 year roadmap for IOT rampdown and execute it. Managing the customer contracts end of life. Building and scaling high-performing engineering teams 
Budget and resource planning: Cross-functional collaboration with product, design, sales, and customer success 
OKRs and KPIs tracking: Vendor and partner management 
Ability to make build vs buy decisions

 Education:  
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field 
Preferred: Master’s degree (MTech / MS / MBA) 
Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent (Azure/GCP) 
Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or similar Agile certs 
 
Experience: 
15+ years in software/technology engineering roles 
5–8 years in leadership positions, preferably including Director, Sr. Director, or VP roles 
Proven experience with IoT platforms or products, especially at scale 
Background in enterprise SaaS, particularly in B2B contexts 
Successfully launched and scaled at least one cloud-native IoT platform 
Experience managing distributed teams across geographies and time zones 
Involvement in hardware/software integration is a plus
