Shoreline Case Manager (Part-Time) Job Details Job Location Edmonds - 19807 80th Pl W - Edmonds, WA Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree Salary Range $22.07 - $22.07 Hourly Travel Percentage Up to 25% Job Shift Any Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Veteran Support Navigator is a full-time, on-campus role located at Shoreline Community College (SCC), embedded in the Veteran Success Through Education (VSTE) initiative. In partnership with Operation Military Family (OMF) and King County Veterans Services, this position provides personalized, trauma-informed case navigation to help veterans and military-connected students overcome barriers to education, housing, financial security, and wellness. The Navigator will serve as a key connector between student veterans and institutional, community, and county resources to promote retention, academic success, and long-term stability. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: + Individualized Support & Service Planning + Conduct intake assessments for student veterans and their families. + Co-develop individualized action plans addressing educational, housing, financial, and personal goals. + Monitor service plan progress and adapt plans as needed for optimal outcomes. + Navigation & Resource Coordination + Assist participants with navigating VA education benefits, financial aid, King County AFA/FFA, VORP, and local housing support. + Coordinate care and warm handoffs with SCC’s Veteran & Military Student Services, Financial Aid, Housing offices, and community partners. + Maintain consistent contact with clients, providing updates and proactive reminders about resources and deadlines. + Documentation & Performance Tracking + Maintain accurate, timely documentation of client assessments, referrals, and outcomes. + Support reporting for King County funding, including enrollment tracking and retention data. + Collaborate with the Project Manager & Data Analyst on continuous improvement efforts. + Advocacy & Participant Engagement + Act as a dedicated advocate for students navigating institutional and systemic barriers. + Provide responsive, trauma-informed care tailored to each participant’s lived experience. + Assist in crisis response, coordinating emergency resources when needed. + Outreach & Community Engagement + Represent the program at SCC events and orientation sessions. + Assist in outreach efforts Qualifications ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Knowledge + Understanding of post-secondary education systems, student services, and academic persistence strategies. + Familiarity with veteran-specific benefits and resources, including VA education benefits, financial aid, and King County programs (AFA/FFA, VORP, housing supports). + Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and culturally responsive approaches for diverse populations. Skills + Strong case management and service navigation skills, including intake, action planning, and follow-up. + Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build trust and rapport with student veterans + Proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation, tracking data, and preparing reports. + Ability to facilitate warm handoffs and coordinate resources across campus, county, and community partners. Abilities + Ability to establish supportive relationships with student veterans while maintaining professional boundaries. + Ability to balance multiple cases and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, educational environment. + Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and connect students with emergency or specialized resources. + Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with college staff, OMF, and King County partners. Education and/or Experience + High School Diploma or GED required. + Associate’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred. + Equivalent military service, lived experience, or professional certifications may substitute for formal education.
