Job Description
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating freight and product to meet customer demands, while maintaining accurate internal inventory and system data. This role requires extensive use and understanding of both internal and external PC systems.
ResponsibilitiesReview upcoming shipping requirements and research the ability to deliver products as requested.Inform customers on the necessary truck space needed in advance of the shipping date, maintaining accuracy to avoid chargebacks for excess or shortfall situations.Communicate with customers in advance if any problems arise.Determine the proper shipping container or pallet sizes needed to ship products without damage and calculate floor space needed for each customer.Inform dock and picking staff of required containers and other shipping instructions in advance.Print and write paperwork for outside vendor activities and forward to the shipping dock. Process paperwork received from outside vendors.Develop pick lists and staging areas for pickers and dock staff.Review current inventory locations and coordinate schedules from outside vendors for returning products.Determine domestic or international product status using Customer Codes and assign proper containers or skids.Print all required paperwork, including packing slips, bar codes, waybills, and other international documentation, and attach them to boxes or containers as necessary.Write OE Pack instructions outlining special shipping requirements as needed.Communicate with internal staff to act on blocked shipments and understand the internal process to unblock sales orders and handle quality control issues.Process paperwork from outside vendors to correctly place parts into inventory.Perform inventory transactions to receive parts into inventory locations or transfer parts to other locations.Conduct cycle counts as needed to ensure inventory accuracy.Essential SkillsPrior experience in a shipping clerk or receiving clerk role.Experience monitoring and tracking inventory levels.Experience coordinating and communicating shipment updates internally and externally.Work Environment
The role is onsite, operating Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
