**Job Title: Shipping Assistant**
**Job Description**
The Shipping Assistant will play a crucial role in resolving shipping issues such as mis-shipments, shortages, damage, deliveries, and freight charges. This position requires handling incoming and outgoing calls related to product shipments, including interactions with carriers, customer service, sales, and operations teams. The role involves evaluating and resolving aging orders that have not shipped, accurately generating shipping documents, freight terms, and commercial invoices, and overseeing the prompt completion of all customer-specific freight shipments and international orders.
**Responsibilities**
+ Resolve shipping issues including mis-shipments, shortages, damage, deliveries, and freight charges.
+ Handle incoming and outgoing calls regarding shipment of products involving carriers, customer service, sales, and operations.
+ Evaluate and resolve aging orders that have not shipped.
+ Accurately generate shipping documents, freight terms, and commercial invoices.
+ Generate pick tickets and assign carriers to minimize cost.
+ Investigate freight claims and provide disposition.
+ Oversee the prompt completion of customer-specific freight shipments and international orders.
+ Schedule carrier pickups.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
+ Experience with shipping, warehouse inventory, cycle counts, and inventory management.
+ Ability to use computers well and willingness to be trained on Oracle systems.
+ Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
+ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
+ Capability to sit for prolonged periods, stand and walk intermittently throughout the day, and engage in shipping activities on the warehouse floor.
+ Physical ability to bend, push, pull, and kneel.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with freight shipments and international orders is a plus.
+ Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
+ Must be self-directed and able to work independently, as well as within a team environment.
+ Must be able to work hours beyond scheduled shifts during the week and on weekends.
+ Ability to work in weather extremes and wear all required PPE.
+ Compliance with all plant safety policies.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SMITHFIELD, North Carolina.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $19.00/hr.
