Job Summary:

To manage, coach and develop all production teams (Fluids, Powders production and filling ) to ensure current and future operational requirements are met in line with agreed Site Safety, Environmental, Quality, Cost, Morale and Speed targets. 

Responsibilities Include:

Focuses on achieving the targets in relation to the “HSE” Business objectives 

Ensure HSE implementation and performance at shift level, accountable for the safe and compliant operation of the shift and of the site outside office hours. Ensures complete investigation in relation to HSE related incidents, in the agreed company timeframe. Ensure compliance with site targets around Hazard Identification and action any  follow-up actions. Actively promotes the “close call” programs Close calls investigated and rectified within 24hrs where practicable Ensures active monitoring and compliance of dust and enzyme levels Ensure that production plans are followed in order to reduce the environmental impact from site to surrounding areas (practicable) Utilise established systems in order to alleviate risks associated within the current and the future manufacturing function Ensure PPE is “fit-for-purpose” and accessible  Ensure “waste material” is dealt with through the correct process Liaise with other functions to minimize the use of raw materials Actively promote new methods of working in order to improve the site environmental & waste performance

Focuses on achieving the targets in relation to the “Quality” Business objectives 

Ensure timely completion of CAD`S and customer complaints through root-cause analysis Ensure timely input of data regarding any non-conformance from suppliers. Ensure teams are following established quality systems/protocols and all relevant checks are being done. Monitor and improve upon site RFT measure Ensure “root-cause” investigation and correct following reject or rework batches. Assist with the completion of activities in order to ensure a successful continuation of compliance in relation to established or new audit requirements.  

Focuses on achieving the targets in relation to the “Speed” Business objectives 

Drive Operational performance through direct management and KPI adherence. Monitoring of actual production v customer requirements, target SPA and VPA >95%Actively pursue the reduction in changeovers in order to provide a more agile service Monitor and improve upon established production metrics in relation to efficiency Monitor, evaluate and utilise the “labour pool” to ensure successful completion of the production plan Ensure consistency of supply through the effective management of stock control systems/processes. 

Focuses on achieving the targets in relation to the “Cost” Business objectives 

Monitor and improve upon existing processes, in order to ensure the successful adherence to agreed budgets Highlight and implement systems/processes/schemes in order to realise cost savings across the company Effectively manage both fixed and non-fixed labour in line with budgetary requirements Effectively utilise resource in order to successfully implement designated projects in line with established company standards 

Focuses on achieving the targets in relation to the “People” Business objectives 

Providing visible shop floor management and leading by example. Deliver an effective training and development program to address any competency gaps. Responsible for applying the company disciplinary procedure across shift up to and including formal written warning. Effectively manage the use of annualised hours in order to maintain customer service levels, whilst operating within the agreed procedure in order to maintain levels of morale   Ensure the timely completion of Return-to-work interviews and any associated actions that may arise i.e. referrals Ensure 6S standards are maintained thought the manufacturing areas in line with standard practices.Assist in the recruitment process through a thorough involvement in the assessment and selection of all departmental staff Effectively manage holidays and cover within the agreed procedure, to ensure consistency of supply to customers Actively promote and action the suggestion scheme in order to promote employee engagement and continuous improvement Develop new or improve existing standard operating practices in order to provide a standard benchmark for operations and a stable base for root-cause analysis Pro-actively participate in and organize relevant meetings in order to address issues that may hinder production and put corrective processors in place to address these Leading the cross functional daily integration meeting to ensure the correct support is given to production to remove daily roadblocks to ensure daily targets are met. Participate in daily planning meeting to get an overview of the issues to production for the day /weeks plan and formulate solutions to overcome these hurdlesParticipate in weekly European level backorder meeting formulate solutions around how to manage and minimise service issues to customers by planning the production around the prioritiesParticipate in weekly European level planning meeting to get an overview of the issues to production for the next 8 weeks forecasted volume requirement and formulate solutions around resources to ensure the demand is met for the coming weeks

Managerial Responsibility:

Has full managerial responsibility for 20-30 direct reports, assigns work to staff, provides coaching and training, sets goals, is accountable for performance evaluation, plans staff development, and makes and approves people management decisions either alone or in collaboration with management and HR (including recruitment, promotions, terminations, and compensation). 

Experience: 

3 – 5 Years in a fast paced manufacturing environment

Interpersonal Skills

The right candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be computer literate and have the ability to work effectively under pressure. They will have a flexible attitude, be well motivated and work well in a team. 

The individual should have worked as a Shift Manager or in Team Lead position before and have a working knowledge of RCA, Lean principles and continuous improvement.
