Job Title: Shift Engineer

Job Description

The Shift Engineer will lead their assigned team to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the plant by optimizing production and maintaining all processes within specifications. This role includes mentoring and developing shift team members. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures, plant equipment, and plant operations. Additionally, they will drive improvements to work routines that enhance performance without compromising safety or product quality.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and regulatory policies and practices.Focus on safety, environment, and health of employees while maximizing plant efficiency.Ensure effective communication with Operations team members as well as Maintenance, Production and Facility Engineering, HSER, and supervisory staff.Direct maintenance and ensure work is completed as per procedures and work standards.Monitor, troubleshoot, and control plant conditions and maintain proper documentation, including safe work permits and required safety inspections.Provide coaching and training to the operations team and other employees.Provide responsible and effective leadership during emergency or maintenance situations.Train and work in all operating positions in the plant.Assist and lead Emergency Response Plan (ERP) drills.Set an excellent example in work habits and team skills while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.Troubleshoot and address any emergency/upset situations impacting the facility.Ensure logbooks are maintained, legible, informative, and time-stamped.Provide creative solutions and effective problem-solving for issues within the plant environment.Review, revise, and write Operations Procedures.Report deficiencies, initiate MOCs, and enter work orders.Establish and maintain respectful and supportive working relationships with team members and colleagues.Continue learning new tasks and interpersonal skills, and openly accept and give constructive feedback.Enter Hazard ID/incident reports and ensure team's HSE participation targets are met.Demonstrate proficiency in all competencies as per Operator Progression Matrix.Support management decisions with honest and open communication with all employees.Essential SkillsMinimum of 5-8 years of SAGD/THERMAL operating experience with a strong understanding of key processes, including Steam Generation, Water Treatment, Oil Treating, De-Oiling, and Well Operations.2nd Class TSASK Power Engineering Certificate of Competency.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, and Word).Ability to interpret facility drawings (PID’s, H&M Balance sheets, line lists, and shutdown keys).Experience with implementing and stewarding HSE program.Expert communicator with the ability to lead and interact with various stakeholders.Experience leading a team.Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract.Understanding of Natural Gas compressors and utilities systems such as glycol heaters and air compressors.Work Environment

Work in a 10K bpd SAGD facility with 12-hour shifts on a 7-on / 7-off day/night rotation, including weekends, holidays, and additional shift coverage as needed. The position requires residence in the North Battleford area and holding a valid Class 5 driver's license with a driver's abstract. Fly in Fly out will be considered for the ideal candidate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160160.00 - $160160.00/yr.
