POSITION PURPOSE:
The Program Assistant for Homeless Services plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation and effectiveness of the low barrier shelter aimed at assisting homeless individuals. This position involves administrative duties, client support, and collaboration with other team members to ensure the smooth functioning of the low barrier shelter. Candidates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of homeless individuals and families are encouraged to apply.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Responsible for promoting a safe, supportive and quality living environment to a population of homeless adults. Will work in partnership with the team by engaging with the shelter guests and drop-in center participants and assisting them in carrying out activities of daily living as well as responsible for providing direct supervision of guests, participants and visitors. Will monitor to ensure that the facility provides a safe, welcoming and clean environment. In order to enhance the shelter guests’ level of independence and socialization, will ensure that shelter rooms and common areas are clean and maintained on a regular basis. Bachelor's in Human Services or related field, or High School Diploma/Equivalency with 4 years of job-related experience working with persons experiencing homelessness or behavioral health needs OR High School Diploma/Equivalency and be a Certified Peer Specialist. Work Schedule: This is a Non-Exempt (hourly) position
Full Time: 37.5 hour work week – (Tuesday/Wednesday off) 3p-11p Hours may vary according to program need.
