The incumbent is to assist in the delivery of robust site Safety plans across Scandicci Plants through advice and coaching of site management as well as employees in all aspects of health and safety working towards the creation of a positive Health and Safety culture. He/She leads and Drives Environmental agenda of the facility supporting and delivering companywide PLP (Purpose Lead Performance) targets.

He/She is accountable ensuring compliance with current and future health & safety and Environmental legislation relating to the Company’s operations under the general direction of the Plant Director or equivalent, provides leadership for the Safety, Health, Security, Environment and Training Programs within the Plant/Facility.

This role supports the local derisking strategy to avoid business disruption. The person is responsible for the site security of the facility.

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

Technical resource for the facility and Contractor, ensuring safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Responsible for compliance with legal/regulatory requirements, application of McCormick HSE policies and procedures, comprehensive case management, analysis of safety/environmental incidents and behaviors, and establishment of best practices for the plant/facility. Manage HSE scorecard reporting internally and externally (EMEA), facilitates and supports root cause analysis. Manages corrective action and preventive actions plans, within the HSE IT platform. Champion health and safety within the business, ensuring continuous improvement and promoting a positive health and safety culture Oversee and support all plant safety activities, including Gemba Walks. Provide a monthly report of health and safety information, performance indicators (leading and lagging) and other relevant statistics for circulation to the EMEA Management. Leads the monthly HSE plant committee. Liaise with all levels of personnel within the company and relevant external agencies on matters of Health, Safety and Environment to facilitate improvements. Advise on aspects of health and safety in the design, layout and use of new, modified and trial plant and equipment and process. RSPP consultant of HSE preventive as per Italian law. Identify hazards and assess risks in the company (Risk Assessment Document); Develop safety measures suitable for the prevention of diseases and accidents at work; Develop safety policies and procedures allign with the Global HSE McCormick standard; drive information and training programmes for workers. Ensure the business is aware of and prepared for forthcoming changes in legislation relating to health and safety, liaising with external bodies as necessary, and maintaining the legal register to reflect such changes. Represent Scandicci Plant on the McCormick Regional and Global Health and Safety Committees. Carry out scheduled and ad-hoc safety inspections and make recommendations for improvements to relevant personnel. Advise on aspects of health and safety in the design, layout and use of new, modified and trial plant and equipment and process. Maintain relations with Supervisory Institutions and Public Authorities

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Level of Education and Discipline: Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering – preferred Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Certifications and/or Licenses: RSPP for at least 5 years of experience. Modulo A-B-C certification completed. Experience: Min 5 year in complex environment as HSE Manager in multinational contest (preferably within a food industry environment). Interpersonal Skills: A strong practical approach with clear leadership and influencing abilities; able to demonstrate achievements in Health and Safety standards; ability to effectively influence at all levels with the organization; flexible and able to manage concurrent priorities; personal vision must include making a difference to site health and safety and environmental aspects. Able to communicate effectively at all levels and within diverse environment. Other Skills & Competencies: Utilities equipment and packing machine knowledge. Required fluency in English both written and spoken (at least B2, preferred C1). High level of computer literacy.
