SharePoint Technical Lead / Architect Role Summary Serves as the senior technical lead for all aspects of a SharePoint Online UI upgrade and enhancement project. Responsible for the overall solution architecture, infrastructure design, integration strategy, performance tuning, and ensuring compliance with security requirements. Key Responsibilities + Define and document the end-to-end solution architecture for migrating from SharePoint Classic to Modern UI. + Lead design of infrastructure components (AD, Azure services, service connections, network/security boundaries). + Establish standards and patterns for SharePoint Framework (SPFx), PowerShell scripts, PnP provisioning, metadata, taxonomy, and search customizations. + Oversee integration with external systems and future AI engine (APIs, data flows, authentication). + Validate technical deliverables (site map, component design, code reviews, environment deployments). + Guide performance and security testing; ensure compliance with client’s mandatory technical requirements. + Mentor development team, enforce coding best practices, and manage technical risk. + Collaborate with PM, business analysts, and Client IT teams to align solution with Client’s business requirements. Required Skillsets + 8+ years architecting and delivering enterprise SharePoint Online Modern UI solutions. + Expertise in SharePoint Framework (SPFx), PnP Provisioning, REST/OData, and CSOM. + Experience with migrating Classic to Modern sites, including refactoring legacy scripts. + Strong background in Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps), AD/Azure AD, OAuth/OIDC. + Proficiency with metadata design, content types, term store management, and search schema. + Solid understanding of COTS vs. custom code trade-offs; experience refactoring or replacing legacy JavaScript. + Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions) and environment promotion. + Familiarity with security hardening (CSP, secure headers, role-based access) and compliance mandates. + Excellent leadership, technical documentation, and stakeholder communication skills. + Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
