About Shared Services:
Shared Services Accounting handles the accounting functions for all Gray-owned and operated TV stations.
Job Summary/Description:
The AVP – Shared Services will assist in the support of the financial operations of Gray’s Shared Services.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead Special Projects
• Represent Gray Media on industry boards where applicable.
• Assist Gray Corporate Accounting with analytical and transactional inquiries.
• Assist with the development, documentation, and enforcement of proper accounting methods, policies, and procedures to meet changing business requirements as well as adherence to SOX controls.
• Work with the independent accounting firms that provide internal and external auditing, including interim reviews and the year-end audit, culminating in interim and year-end financial reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission and other external parties
• Assists in the design and implementation of process improvements, including standardization, enhancements, and potential automation of existing processes and systems.
• Assists in the preparation of the monthly close process and related reporting deliverables, including reviewing reconciliations and other reports to ensure the accuracy of financials.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
• At least eight years of professional accounting/finance experience, with at least five years in a managerial role.
• Excellent working knowledge of GAAP.
• Must possess excellent analytical, quantitative, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge and demonstrated ability to use automated accounting systems and standard PC-based accounting/spreadsheet applications.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-financial users with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, and recommend actions using sound judgment.
• Must have extremely high standards of being accountable for personal and team performance.
• Must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Media or Sales-based industry experience is a plus
