Role Overview:
The Manger, Small Business Programs serves as a program manager focused on leadership and management of all statewide Indiana SBDC (Small Business Development Center) programs and projects to meet strategic goals. The program manager is responsible for managing initiation, planning, monitoring, and closeout of all small business programs, market research tools, and events that serve thousands of Hoosier small businesses each year and help them start stronger, grow faster, and work smarter.
Salary Statement:
The salary range for this position is 63,787 - 66,000 annually.
A Day in the Life:
Program Management:
+ Execute and refine a portfolio of statewide program initiatives to meet organizational strategic goals and work as a collaborative partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify, strategize, communicate, and implement programming.
+ Conduct project reviews to monitor and report on program success metrics.
+ Identify and develop relationships with service providers and develop and implement project plans to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
+ Manage contracted service providers associated with the SBDC programming, such as market research vendor relationships including IBIS World, ESRI, Reference USA, and other platforms.
+ Build and leverage stakeholder relationships to promote and support programs.
+ Create and maintain program policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
+ Provide network with guidance on responsibilities and proactively manage projects, procedures, processes, and system communication.
+ Collaborate with Manager, Small Business Operations on program budgets, invoices.
+ Identify best practices and improve programs and internal systems with an eye toward future strategic needs.
+ Foster a positive feedback culture and utilize feedback to offer guidance and support to team members.
Communications, Marketing and Event Planning:
+ Develop and implement program release plans and maintain quarterly stakeholder newsletter to promote the SBDC.
+ Support program initiatives with marketing collateral including, copy, press releases, one-pagers, web pages, email outreach, and resource guides.
+ Maintain SBDC website to reflect program offerings, services, and team members.
+ Plan and implement various events including our bi-annual Network Meetings, annual Impact Awards, Small Business Road Show, and Export Accelerator completion event.
Administration:
+ Advise VP, Small Business on programming opportunities and initiatives.
+ Contribute to the development of the Indiana SBDC strategic goals and objectives.
+ Serve as a resource for SBDC Regional Directors as they implement programming and participate in statewide initiatives.
+ Participate in planning and execution of various meetings, including locating and securing meeting locations, and securing audio/visual, caterer and other logistical requirements, also see (Communications, Marketing and Event Planning above).
+ Participate in monthly calls, reviewing performance data and other special projects to assist in achievement of performance goals.
+ Receive statewide referrals and dispatch to regional offices
What You'll Need for Success:
Education:
+ Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business or other directly related field
Experience:
+ Minimum: 1-2 years of experience in program management, significant computer experience, including MIS systems, using Microsoft Office suite
+ Minimum 1-2 years Project or program management work, project schedule timelines and deliverables, project stakeholder management and communication
