The Set Up Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the proper preparation, setup, and adjustment of welding fixtures, tools, and related equipment to support efficient production operations. This role provides advanced technical support, troubleshoots setup issues, and serves as a key resource for training and mentoring team members on correct setup practices.Set Up Specialist Duties:
Coordinate and stage weld fixtures for production kits.Read and interpret production schedules and work orders to pull required materials.Set up assigned machines and ensure their proper operation.Ensure material availability for manufacturing processes.Report material shortages and interface with internal customers.Enter production and scrap data into reporting systems.Maintain tooling and equipment, performing basic maintenance when necessary.Ensure correct setup and handover of jobs to machine operators.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area. Perform advanced setup, changeover, and calibration of welding fixtures, tooling, and associated production equipment according to specifications and production schedules. Inspect fixtures and tools for wear, damage, or missing components; coordinate repairs or replacements as needed. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure fixtures and setups meet product requirements and quality standards.Maintain accurate documentation of setup processes, equipment adjustments, and any modifications.Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation when setup-related issues affect production or quality.Support process improvements by providing feedback on fixture design, equipment upgrades, and workflow enhancements.Train and mentor Set Up I/II employees and operators on proper fixture handling, setup procedures, and safety protocols. Ensure compliance with company policies, including safety, quality, and 5S/lean manufacturing practices. Maintain organized fixture storage, ensuring all fixtures are properly labeled, moved, and tracked in the system.Act as a point of contact for troubleshooting fixture-related issues during production shifts.III. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or coursework in manufacturing, welding, or mechanical systems preferred.3–5 years of experience in production setup, fixture preparation, or similar manufacturing roles.Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings, work instructions, and schematics.Proficient in using hand tools, gauges, and measuring devices for accurate setup.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve setup-related issues independently.Basic computer skills for documentation, fixture movement transactions, and reporting.Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to train and guide others.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently and stand for extended periods.Capable of bending, reaching, and working in various positions to complete setups.Work Environment
