Service Technician - Level II
This is a remote position. Position Title: Service Technician Associate Position Location: Remote with up to 75% travel to job sites throughout the US. Must be located near a major US airport. Job Summary The Service Technician Associate provides technical support for emergency service and planned preventative maintenance of Building Automation Systems in Healthcare, Industrial, and Mission Critical / Technology sectors. This Service Technician Associate will work with the service manager, service coordinator, project managers, other service engineers, systems integrators, equipment vendors and client staff while performing BAS service-related work and reporting. The Service Technician Associate will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives. Essential Functions BAS Emergency Service and Support (40%) + Assist in responding to client emergency service calls including participation in 24/7 hotline pool + Assist in troubleshooting BAS and mechanical systems using secure remote connectivity software tools and multiple BAS software platforms + Assist in creating and updating service work tickets using company tools + Travel to client sites including assisting with coordinating local vendors, system integrators, and contractors + Assist in documenting activities in detail and provide frequent client communication BAS Preventative Maintenance (40%) + Assist in remote and on-site scheduled BAS technical reviews of system installation, performance, function, GUI, and alarms + Assist in providing calibration verification using portable testing instrumentation Reporting (20%) + Assist in developing service reports for internal and external stakeholders + Manage personal hours using company tools + Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned Requirements Position Requirements (BEGINNER level for all the following) + Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace + Knowledge of IoT or smart building solutions + Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management + Knowledge of integration of open-source protocols via Ethernet and serial communication buses (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP), with a basic understanding of HVAC systems and BAS architecture to support end-to-end control system functionality + Knowledge of networking used in BAS systems including interfacing with client IT resources + Ability to in BAS software including Tridium Niagara (AX/N4), Honeywell WEBs, Distech Controls, Automated Logic, Delta Controls, or Reliable Controls + Skilled in Startup and troubleshooting of BAS systems in data center / critical environments + Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail + Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation + Ability to follow company and site safety requirements + Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence + Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information) + Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision + Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines + Ability to achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as / if required + Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Physical Demands The following physical demands must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is + Frequently manipulating, moving or grasping small parts, devices or tools + Frequently required to remain in a stationary position + Frequently moving through office, critical facility and other environments (such as low temperatures, high temperatures and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind), including tight and confined spaces + Frequently descending / ascending stairs and ladders to access equipment + On occasion the employee may be required to position self under or over equipment + On occasion the employee may move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Travel / Relocation Requirements + Up to 75%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states. + Must be located near a major US airport. + Effective May 7, 2025, and in accordance with U.S. federal regulations for domestic air travel, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position. + Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination and nature of the business need. + Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc. Education / Experience Requirements + Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related discipline OR + Two years of experience with hands-on engineering, programming, testing, validation and troubleshooting of BAS, HVAC controls, or low-voltage systems. + Experience in mission-critical or healthcare environments preferred.
