Asda's Technology Strategy & Architecture function is looking for a Service Solution Architect to join our Architecture Team. You'll be working within an established architecture function, embedded into our Service and ServiceNow team, accountable for Service Solutions and ServiceNow platform architecture.
Successful candidates will report to a Senior Solutions Architect Manager, aligning and working closely to the Integration and Engineering Enterprise Architect for Technical Leadership and into the ServiceNow product team, whilst being authoritative leaders and trusted advisors of architectural design and process.

In this role, you’ll be working in one of the UK’s largest, modern, cloud first and innovative retail environments. With the ability to leverage the latest Cloud technology, techniques and thinking to build our business.
Supporting the design and evolution of Asda's enterprise observability solutions including Application Performance Monitoring, Best Practice Logging, Monitoring and Alerting, Enterprise Dashboarding,
Defining, incident management processes from a technical perspective - tooling, integrations and automation, including evolving the current solution design for ServiceNow
Supporting definition of reliability goals—SLI (Service Level Indicators), SLO (Service Level Objectives), and error budgets, and defining the technical solutions to support their measurement
Supporting Business-Critical Systems Design with a focus on fit for purpose reliability, supportability, and risk reduction.
Supporting design of capacity planning capabilities for engineering and data teams
Supporting change and release management engineering design, including CI/CD, tooling, integrations and automation.
Work alongside the Integration and Engineering Enterprise Architect to develop and maintain Service and ServiceNow strategies, and roadmap.
You’ll allocate 10% of your time dedicated towards Learning & Development activities aligned to your Personal Development Plan.
What you'll need:Experience in collaborating with wider architecture communities
Familiar with working at an enterprise scale defining innovative and fit for purpose solutions.
Knowledge of core technology led Service concepts such as Service Design, Management, Operations/Offerings as primary capabilities of the ServiceNow platform.
Experience preferred in solution and technical design within ServiceNow, with a real passion for current technology trends.
Strong grasp of different integration design patterns and technologies, enabling ServiceNow to function within an Enterprise IT environment.
Ability to approach design with timeliness, cost and quality factors in mind.
Risk identification and mitigation, quantification and qualification of non-functional and functional requirements.
Problem solving to get to the root cause, identifying and assessing solution options.
Excellent written skills and the ability to clearly distil complex architectures into consumable documents and views.
Ability to capture and define principals, standards and designs that can be easily understood for all.
Able to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience in a way that is relevant, easy to consume and compelling.
Self-starter with the ability to operate independently utilising their own judgement
Ability to work with business and deliver partners, being seen as a dependable and approachable member of the team.
Ability to present at Design Authority and other decision-making forums and gain consensus from a variety of stakeholders.
Work Where it WorksThe role is based in our headquarters at Asda House in Leeds, and aligned with hybrid working the successful candidate will be expected to work in the office three days per week.
