Service Planner and Project Engineer

Job Description:

Primary Objective:

Coordinates, plans, and drives the completion and delivery of Service Factory Orders, including mechanical and electronic repair orders. Leads planning and projection execution of Service projects by coordinating labor, engineering resources, parts, and factory routes to ensure cost effective, timely, and quality completion of orders. Assures operational readiness; determines factory capability, workflow, space requirements, and equipment to support the Service Technicians.

Major Areas of Accountability:

Coordinates and drives daily activities for Mechanical, Electrical, and E2M products repair/calibration departments.

In coordination with the Global Parts Service Manager, creates, sets priority, and assigns, work orders for factory repair orders. Monitors schedule performance and adjusts dates on production orders to match capacity by communicating to Service Sales, service technicians, and procurement via Salesforce, email, and in-person communication.

Coordinates with the Service Repair Technicians to develop cost estimates for factory work.  Applies value engineering techniques to reduce manufacturing cost of existing products.

Assesses the viability of product remanufacture of factory repair work in terms of product / parts availability, assessment of execution risk, cost effectiveness, and availability of source documentation.  Provides input to, or determines, make/buy decisions based on cost, quality and capacity.

Coordinates with the Sourcing department and Global Parts Service Manager on the qualification of new suppliers and components by determining and establishing remanufacture requirements, in conjunction with other internal groups.

Monitors and drives resolution of part availability, factory routing, shipping / receiving and expedites when necessary to meet production schedules.

Coordinates with the Service Sales team on repair orders & activities to ensure delivery of factory repair orders. Utilize Salesforce and SAP to perform the following tasks:

Create Return Deliveries

Create Service Orders

Create Order Reservations

Create Purchase Orders to outside vendors, as required.

Create Production Orders

Stage parts required for service/repair orders.

TECO production orders and service orders.

Create and stage orders for delivery to customers

Support the Service Project and Application Engineering Manager in overseeing all aspects of project performance, including cost, technical execution, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction. This encompasses all phases of the service project from order confirmation to project definition, manufacturing, and delivery and completion.

Acts as a liaison between the Service Repair Technicians, other manufacturing and planning teams, and the Global Parts Service Manager on balancing and executing orders across the factory.

Provides support to internal groups and external suppliers in resolving quality, productivity and routine technical issues related to Serviceable products during all phases of the product life cycle.

Drive improvements and monitor processes and procedures ensuring high quality of Service product outputs, efficient operations, and compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and corporate policies. Develops and implements Corrective Actions.

Assures the service product meets all applicable quality requirements (i.e., engineering, project specific, product and industry standards).

Monitors actual costs against estimated costs and directs corrective action as required. Actively directs development and implementation of product, system, and project cost improvements.

Perform other job duties & functions as required.

General Qualifications:

BS degree in manufacturing/Engineering or related field.

Strong oral and written communication skills in all mediums (face to face, email, telephone)

Strong computer and software skills. Salesforce and SAP experience are helpful.

Ability to work with a high degree of personal discipline. Operates under limited supervision. Notifies & consults Global Parts Service Manager of anything requiring escalation.

Technical engineering aptitude.

Intermediate knowledge of MTS products including mechanical components, hydraulics, controllers, and transducers.

Ability to drive results in a fast paced and changing environment.  Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work with varying generations and applications of engineered products.

Customer focused mentality. Strong team player and communicator.  Drive for results and continuous improvement.

Accountable for meeting order deadlines, quality requirements, and safety goals while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Compensation Information:

$72,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
