A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Service Operations Senior Engineer / Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce Power Systems (MTU Singapore). This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on the commissioning and testing of generator sets and power systems. The role involves travel to customer sites, shipyards, and field locations across the region.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defense vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Key Accountabilities

Lead or support commissioning and pre-commissioning activities for diesel/gas generator sets and associated low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems.Execute Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, functional testing, and acceptance testing with customer representatives.Develop and optimize commissioning plans and schedules in collaboration with project teams.Perform system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and rectification of technical issues.Work with internal stakeholders to ensure safety-critical elements are verified and closed out.Conduct risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance at all times.Liaise with project engineers, operations teams, and third-party suppliers to meet commissioning deadlines.Prepare detailed commissioning reports and documentation.Differentiate and analyze defects to determine if they are warrantable or chargeable.Support continuous improvement by identifying process or technical enhancements during commissioning.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or related disciplines.2 to 4 years of relevant experience in commissioning or servicing generator sets, power systems, or low voltage/medium voltage switchboards.Strong understanding of generator control panels, switchgear, and testing procedures.Familiarity with International Organization for Standardization 8528, Singapore Standards, and local statutory electrical compliance.Hands-on experience in Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, pre-commissioning, and system testing.Excellent troubleshooting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and documentation skills.Willing to travel to regional customer locations and work in field-based environments.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience with mtu products or other Original Equipment Manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Wärtsilä, etc.Licensed Electrical Worker (Grade 7/8/9) or equivalent certification in electrical testing.Marine, data center, or industrial generator set project experience.
