Description

 Position: Server Administrator Reports to: Enterprise and Hosting Server Systems Mgr.OverviewThe Server Administrator role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the physical and virtual server environment.  This role includes the monitoring of performance and administration of systems. The administrator will also play a key role in documenting and validating the Data Center Disaster Recovery process. The Server Administrator demonstrates commitment to the understanding and updating of system documentation and administrative support to the IT Department. The position is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and proceduresAdditionally, the position acts as a backup to the Data Center Coordinator on duties involving daily administration of ERP application and Data Center duties.ResponsibilitiesSupport activities surrounding Victaulic’s Server infrastructure to include:Server administration and server patching  Backup and restore administrationVulnerability Management Troubleshoot server hardware to the component level, when necessarySoftware and OS installations/upgradesPerform installations, moves, additions and changes for servers and related peripheralsLog details of support provided in the service desk trouble-ticketing system Create and maintain documentation for HW/SW assets and problem resolution details Stay informed of new technologies in hardware and software, troubleshooting, automation technologies Attend formal trainingWork nights or weekends as requiredWork fluidly with all global infrastructure teams Performance Management:Monitor server infrastructure performance and reports status to EHSS ManagerEnsures SLAs are met and appropriately configured based on needs to business and requirements of implemented technology.Manages monitoring/logging/alerting/reportingUndertakes routine preventative measuresServer and Storage:Maintains and monitors server infrastructure landscape at global on-premises locations and public cloud.Works with business to ensure understanding of server and software requirementsInstalls new hardware, systems, and software as neededConfigures / reconfigures monitoring hardware / software as neededQualificationsWork Experience:Requires 3+ years’ experience supporting Windows Server Environment and/or experience with IBM iSeries Technical Experience:Experience supporting Windows Server 2012 and newer Knowledge of IBM iSeries server and OS/400 commands Knowledge of AWS/Azure public cloudExperience with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access) Technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills requiredGeneral Requirements:Ability to prioritize and multitaskExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMust be able to work unsupervisedProvide coverage during vacations and holidaysEducation & Certifications:Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience
