 Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2 – Integration and Logistics IPT Lead.  This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Nuclear-Armed Sea-Launched Cruise Missile program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

This position is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall functional oversight and management of a Systems Engineering group of up to 10 engineers while maintaining a technical baseline of performance on program work. In addition to program responsibilities (80%) the selected candidate will manage a team of systems engineers (20%).  Functional management involves, but is not limited to, organizational administrative activities and helping employees’ performance and career development through guidance and training. The direct program responsibilities will be dependent upon programmatic technical work. 

What You’ll Get To Do: 
The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Own both technical and programmatic leadership for a team of ~10 FTE performing systems engineering functions to define requirements and perform support equipment, training, and facilities logistics trade studies as well as affordability and producibility trade studies.
• Own technical and programmatic leadership for the team performing systems engineering functions to analyze weapon system and product support equipment affordability over the program lifecycle.
• Serve as a Work Package Lead (WPL); owning, cost, schedule, and earned value responsibilities for the work your team performs.
• Generate technical documentation to identify and understand the activities and support equipment required to maintain the prime mission equipment within the weapon system
• Lead System Architecture modeling activities (Internal Block Diagram, Block Definition Diagram, maintain branch integrity, perform model merge integration)
• Develop and mature interface products (Interface Requirements Specification, Interface Design Description, Interface Control Document)
• Define requirements and verification approach definition for support equipment
• Own all aspects of Employee performance management, mentorship, training, and career development (functional homeroom)
• Analyzes changes to balance technical, cost, schedule, quality requirements and develops alternatives that address program needs and expectations. 
• Prepares higher level management briefings and develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and tools for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and customers. 
• Develops and maintains Requests for Proposals (RFPs). 
• Reviews supplier proposal responses, including performing technical evaluations, reviewing supplier Basis of Estimates (BOEs), overall proposal quality reviews, and attending proposal related reviews.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 6+ years of related technical experience

• At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

• Must have experience leading a technical team
• At least 1 year experience of Control Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management (EVM)
• 2+ years of experience with Systems Engineering Lifecycle, in any of the following systems engineering domains: requirements development, systems architecture, verification planning, and interface definition experience
• Must be a US Citizen with active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, with an investigation completed within the last 6 years, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline or higher
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance current and within scope 
• Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization.
• Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements/expectations.
• Experience and working knowledge of US Navy submarine or strategic weapons programs.
• Experience and working knowledge of Cruise Missiles.
• Experience performing customer directed trade studies
• Proficiency in driving programmatic battle rhythm. Customer-focused mindset with proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills.

Primary Level Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
