DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Please note that Sentence to Serve Crew Leaders may perform some or all of the following tasks depending on their areas of expertise. Plan Sentence to Serve work projects: • Assess proposed job sites for appropriateness; • Develop and implement work plans; • Act as the liaison between several stakeholders; and • Organize projects maximizing time and labor efficiency. Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed: • Provide offenders a variety of training to complete work projects; • Orient participants to proper and safe use of power equipment and tools; • Complete and submit training record forms; • Respond to emergency situations; • Ensure proper responses to weather conditions for safety; • Prepare injury and/or incident reports; and • Document and investigate incidents and violations. Supervise offenders: • Train and provide work direction to crew members; • Create crew members work schedules; • Transport crew members to and from worksite; • Review crew members work for quality; • Interpret and communicate policies to crew members; • Initiate formal or informal disciplinary action as needed; and • Record daily activities and hours worked. Perform other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is highly physical in nature and typically performed at a worksite. Lifting requirement of up to 100 pounds and also includes pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, and reaching. The position requires working outside in all weather conditions including extreme cold, heat and humidity. Crew Leaders transport offenders daily to work sites in all weather conditions and are responsible for the safety of their crew. Equipment and tools used may include, but is not limited to: hand tools, power equipment, trailers, telephone, portable two-way radio, computer, calculator, and copier/scanner and fax machine. Work interruptions are frequent. There is some pressure associated with dealing with individuals who may be emotionally charged and with project or activity deadlines and details. Exposure may include, but are not limited to: hazardous chemicals, high elevations, bodily fluids, disagreeable odors, communicable diseases, persons who are behaviorally challenged, elevated noise and vibration levels, and slippery surfaces.
