The Food Innovation Center is physically housed at CSU Spur in the Terra building, located in Denver, Colorado. This position reports to that specific location. The College of Agricultural Sciences ( CAS ) at Colorado State University fulfills our institution’s land-grant mission through its economic impact, cutting-edge research, and innovative education. The College offers undergraduate majors with different concentration options as well as graduate degree programs within the College and its five academic departments. The Food Innovation Center is a program that is administered and directed through the College of Agricultural Sciences. The Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station ( AES ) conducts research that addresses the economic viability, environmental sustainability, and social acceptability of activities impacting agriculture, natural resources, and consumers in Colorado. The Food Innovation Center supports and collaborates with the AES stations. Search Contact Emailmartha.calvert@colostate.edu Position Summary The sensory & product development program support role will be responsible for serving food and beverage samples for sensory testing, cooking and preparing samples for service, and maintaining sensory lab organization and cleanliness during study execution. Support personnel will also engage with panelists. The support personnel will additionally provide support to the product development team in the kitchen as client projects require. This may include sample development, spreadsheet work, analysis, following recipes, documenting findings, using various kitchen equipment, and food analysis equipment. Job Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Cooking, preparing, labeling and serving samples for service while maintaining sensory lab organization and cleanliness during study execution 2. Engage with panelists as needed, maintaining professionalism and upholding CSU Spur Community Guidelines 3. Practicing a high level of organization and time management, all with a great attention to detail 4. Use in-house sensory software system, scan gun and Microsoft Excel 5. Must be able to work within Microsoft office suite, including Word, Excel and Sharepoint while maintaining organization of files 6. Maintain a clean & sanitary environment in the lab and sensory booth area 7. Use cleaning materials and dish washing equipment; perform all duties as related to keeping the sensory lab running in a clean & sanitary manner 8. Ability to take on tasks as assigned by Sensory Manager and Food Scientist staff 9. Must be able to follow recipes and in the moment direction from teammates accordingly 10. Using food scientist tools and equipment as assigned; including dish area for equipment and study materials cleaning 11. Ability to self-manage 12. Must practice professionalism and discretion due to sensitivity of confidential client materials & recipes 13. Ability to be physically present, on site, at the Food Innovation Center in Denver, CO for each shift Position Minimum Qualifications + BS in Food Science or related field + Experience using Microsoft office. Preferred Qualifications + Experience with supporting sensory testing. + Experience with food science.
