We're looking for a highly experienced and skilled Senior z/OS System Programmer. This critical role involves advanced management, maintenance, and optimization of our z/OS operating environment and related software. You'll not only execute complex technical tasks but also guide and mentor junior team members.
Tasks:
Lead and Mentor: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of z/OS system programmers.Advanced System Management: Architect, install, and configure highly complex z/OS environments and third-party software.Critical Support & Recovery: Oversee 24/7 on-call support, drive root cause analysis for critical incidents, and lead disaster recovery initiatives.Performance & Optimization: Proactively identify and implement system performance improvements and optimize resource utilization.Strategic Project Execution: Lead large-scale projects such as major z/OS upgrades, data center migrations, and complex LPAR/CPU reconfigurations.Security & Compliance: Develop and enforce robust security profiles, manage critical system data (SMF, OMVS, zFS), and ensure audit compliance.Documentation & Standards: Establish and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standards, and best practices for the team.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.10+ years of extensive z/OS system programming experience in large, complex mainframe environments.Proven experience in a mentorship role.Deep expertise in z/OS architecture, internals, system programming, and advanced troubleshooting.Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.Bonus Points:
Industry certifications (e.g., z/OS System Programmer).In-depth knowledge of key z/OS subsystems like JES, IMS, CICS, DB2.Proficiency in scripting languages (REXX, Assembler, COBOL).Experience with hybrid cloud mainframe integrations.What will you find at DXC?
