The role
As a Senior Work Control Office Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join one of the UK’s most advanced engineering environments, leading the safe release and control of Work Authorities and Lock Out Tag Out systems to ensure precision, safety, and efficiency in submarine operations.
Day-to-day, you’ll help manage and coordinate Babcock and Royal Navy teams within the Control Office, ensuring compliance with control of work processes for safe and efficient submarine project delivery.
Vet, authorise, and release Work Authorities in line with the relevant Safety Case requirements. Manage Control Office Engineers responsible for administering the Submarine’s Lock Out Tag Out system. Maintain the master nuclear-implicated work sequencing document to support safe and structured execution. Attend coordination meetings to enable and deconflict work activities against the project schedule. Ensure nuclear, radiological, and product safety standards are upheld at all times.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard
Essential experience of the Senior Work Control Office Engineer
Strong understanding of Control of Work, Safe Systems of Work, and Permit to Work processes. Solid knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and planning techniques. Proven experience managing technical teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective team coordination. Understanding of complex mechanical/electrical systems and experience in nuclear submarine repair and maintenance - Desirable
Qualifications for the Senior Work Control Office Engineer
NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline. ILM Level 3 or equivalent in Leadership and Management, or comparable experience in a managerial role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
