Job Overview:
Reporting to the Segment President, the Senior Vice President is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Business Unit by working with both the Functional and Operational Leadership Team and other management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership, guidance and overall direction to the Heavy Civil Business Unit. Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a service organization that mirrors the adopted core values and strategic direction of the Company. Responsible for driving the Business Segment to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives. Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the Business Unit Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes. Identify, evaluate and pursue new business opportunities to increase segment income. Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the Business Unit. Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the management team. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Business Unit. Represent the business unit with clients, investors, and business partners. Coach and mentor direct reports to effectively lead their respective functions in a culture of safety, accountability, innovation and efficiency; Work with functional peers within the Segment to support common goals; Represent the Segment on Enterprise-level initiatives, and deploy Segment resources as required to support those initiatives; Make recommendations to division leadership on areas of risk and opportunities for improvement within the operating divisions; Support the Segment Leadership’s fiduciary duties through process development, training and assurance related to project financial forecasting; Provide recommendations on optimal indirect and G&A cost structure and work with Operations to understand and improve job margins; Assist Corporate Legal Counsel and Operations with claim resolutions as well as negotiations of commercial terms for new project awards; Identify and mitigate risks during senior management reviews for bid submissions; Support with implementation of new corporate tools or processes specific to Project Services; Collaborate with others within the Management Team to develop improvement initiatives within the organization; Other duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Engineering Technology; Bachelor’s Degree in Business or MBA designation; or Construction Management Degree 20 years heavy civil (heavy highway road/bridge and concrete paving) construction and design construction experience, with DOT client interfacing and contract management required A minimum of 10 years senior management experience in a heavy civil construction environment

Work requirements often dictate the necessity to work beyond an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift. Position can also require extensive work on the weekends; Sound knowledge of computer software such as Access, Excel, Vista and others.
