Senior Vice President Ambulatory Care

This is a complex role which requires an individual with depth and breadth of experience leading multiple sites in the ambulatory arena The scope of the role will include all adult services at Dana Farber Cancer Institute ambulatory locations including Chestnut Hill, Merrimack Valley, Milford, Foxboro, and South Shore and over time will also oversee the Beth Isreal Deaconess Oncology Ambulatory sites. Additionally, the SVP will work in close partnership with leadership at Boston Children’s Hospital for pediatric ambulatory services. As such the successful candidate must be comfortable with matrix reporting, leading through influence and collaborative decision making.

With the rapidly growing ambulatory footprint associated with increasing patient volumes, the successful candidate must be comfortable with ongoing change and have outstanding change management skills.
The SVP Ambulatory Care must demonstrate their data-driven decision-making and planning skills to drive operational changes and meet financial goals. Proficiency in utilizing data from multiple sources (i.e. Epic, Workday) in partnership with clinical and administrative leaders is essential for success. Leveraging technology is essential to enhancing Dana Farber’s high-touch care model and high-quality patient care.

Provide strategic leadership and vision for all ambulatory services, ensuring alignment with the Institute's mission and goals.
+ Represent ambulatory services in executive leadership meetings, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
+ Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to develop and implement innovative programs and services that enhance patient experience and outcomes.
**Operational Leadership**
+ Oversee operational management of ambulatory clinics, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery.
+ Ensure alignment and seamless coordination between inpatient and outpatient care.
**Financial Management**
+ Develop and manage budgets, financial plans, and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency and financial performance.
+ Analyze data and collaborate with leadership teams to optimize resource utilization, reduce costs, and enhance revenue streams.
**Continuous Improvement**
+ Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancement and performance optimization.
+ Lead initiatives to enhance quality, safety, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across ambulatory services while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
**Business Development**
+ Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and expansion of ambulatory care services.
**Supervises Staff**
+ Hire and develop team members with the capabilities to achieve organizational goals.
+ Define and communicate clear expectations, provide regular constructive feedback, and evaluate performance against objectives.
+ Oversee team’s compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
+ Monitor work for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. Mentor and coach staff, facilitating training opportunities and supporting career growth.
+ Work with senior management and Human Resources to address performance issues, as appropriate.
+ Promote and foster a healthy and productive work environment within the team and with groups across the Institute.

**Education:**
+ Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
+ Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, with at least 10 years overseeing ambulatory services in a large academic medical center or cancer center.
+ Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) preferred.

+ In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements, including Joint Commission standards and local, state, and federal laws related to ambulatory care.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of hospital administration, principles, practices, and techniques related to ambulatory care.
+ Proficiency in healthcare information systems and technology relevant to ambulatory care.
+ Strong understanding of practice management systems, electronic medical records systems, and financial management systems.
**Financial Acumen**
+ Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and resource management.
+ Thorough knowledge of hospital budget and financial systems.
+ Experience in developing and managing capital and operational budgets and ambulatory P&L responsibility.
+ Refined quantitative, financial, and operational modeling skills.
**Leadership Management**
+ Strong leadership presence and skills.
+ Proven capabilities in building and leading teams.
+ A management style emphasizing teamwork, participation, communication, and a high-touch service orientation.
**Problem Solving and Process Improvement**
+ Ability to analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and implement effective processes and policies that lead to improved performance, patient experience/access, and financial performance.
+ Proven track record of building a high-performing ambulatory care area, including patient access, quality, and physician practice/clinic outcomes.

+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituencies and stakeholders.
+ Confidence, balanced with humility.
