New York Life is on a transformational journey and seeks a highly qualified leader to join the Corporate Development & Strategy (CD&S) team as Head of Enterprise Strategy based in New York.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Head of Enterprise Strategy to lead the development, alignment, and execution of our long-term strategic agenda. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the company's growth trajectory during a time of pivotal transition by translating market insights, business objectives, and operational capabilities into actionable enterprise-wide strategies. As a key advisor to the Company’s executive team, this person will influence major investment decisions, drive cross-functional initiatives, and help ensure the appropriate level of strategic coherence across all business units.
The Head of Enterprise Strategy will report to the Head of Corporate Development & Strategy and will have direct responsibility for enterprise and select business strategy functions, strategic planning, and New York Life’s internal consulting group, an overall team of approximately 15 – 20 employees. This person will also work collaboratively across other capabilities in the CD&S team, including corporate development, business intelligence, and enterprise relationship management.
Role Description
Thought Leadership, Advisory, and Executive Communication
Lead the development and continuous refinement of the enterprise strategy in alignment with the CEO and executive leadership Support development of robust business strategies and plans for a portfolio of standalone businesses, tying them into our core strategy Develop pragmatic solutions to key strategic and operational issues Develop and present recommendations to senior leadership, play a key role in informing and influencing senior management decision making Provide enterprise program management overlay to ensure execution of cross-functional strategic initiatives Oversee agenda and materials development for senior executive audiences and meetings (e.g., Board Meetings, Executive Offsites, etc.)Strategic Planning
Support strategic planning processes, including inter-dependencies between key business, technology, and financial planning processes Facilitate structured reviews of the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives and implications (e.g., budget considerations, resource allocation, etc.)Project Leadership
Oversee implementation of multiple key initiatives, working closely with line management responsible for executing change Lead execution of key enterprise initiatives by forming collaborative partnerships with colleagues across businesses and functional areas Provide thought leadership and strategic oversight in relevant areas Manage governance process, ensuring regular communication and coordination of initiatives across executive management teamPeople Management

We are looking for an outstanding individual with excellent intellectual and analytical capabilities, pragmatic problem-solving skills, strong communications and influencing capabilities, a robust strategy background, and a passion to effect change across the organization at the most senior levels.
Additional requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field required, MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred 15+ years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, and/or strategic planning roles Demonstrated success in leading enterprise- and business-level strategy development and execution Outstanding critical thinking, analytical, and quantitative abilities gained through leading large scale high impact strategy assignments Strong communication skills including experience in developing C-suite presentations Experience in financial services preferred, insurance expertise is a plus Broad understanding of current technology practices (Agile, Cloud Computing/SaaS, Enterprise Data Management, etc.) and emerging trends (AI, InsurTech, etc.) is desired Executive presence and collaborative work style with ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across the organization Strong managerial capability and the ability to effectively flex leadership styles given the audience and situational need
