About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Superintendent we are seeking a Senior Ventilation Engineer to lead and manage ventilation systems across Cadia’s underground operations.
This critical role ensures a safe and compliant working environment by delivering best-practice ventilation strategies aligned with Newmont standards and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the design and management of underground ventilation systems.Deliver safe and effective primary and secondary ventilation controls.Develop and implement ventilation schedules integrated with mine planning.Conduct audits, inspections, and monitor workplace air quality.Maintain accurate records, maps, and models for operational use and emergency response.Mentor and develop a small team of ventilation professionals.Support the site’s emergency response as an incident control representative.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in mine ventilation, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
You will also possess the following:
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or demonstrated operational experience in underground ventilation engineering Proficient in using mine planning software – Deswik CAD & Ventsim Ability to work in a team environment and communicated effectively Proven ability to lead, influence and drive accountability.
Please note this is a residential role in Orange NSW.
