As an AMS COE Validation Engineer, you will apply system and Memory/Storage expertise to provide in-class support for Azure cloud servers. You will combine skills in data analysis, hardware debugging, and subject-matter expertise to ensure hardware in Azure is in service and fully operational. To achieve this, you will collaborate closely with other hardware and software engineers at Microsoft worldwide. In these collaborations you will prepare and present data analyses, provide recommendations, develop solutions to address problems, and define solution requirements. Work with suppliers to make sure the tests are run correctly and provide support as needed. + Implement and deploy tests to replicate failures as seen in the fleet and enhance test suites. + Engage with fleet support and system level qualification teams to do the root-cause-analysis of storage related failures observed. + Engage with standard development teams (e.g. OCP etc.) to refine the requirements and establish testability guidelines. + Develop scripts and automation tools as required to facilitate test development and automation. + Embody our culture (https://careers.microsoft.com/v2/global/en/culture) and values. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience + OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience + OR equivalent experience. + Experience with SSD or HDD validation, performance testing and white-box testing. + 3+ years of experience in software and script development skills such as C/C++ Programming or Python Scripting. **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + 7+ years of memory/storage industry or enterprise/cloud server experience + MS (master’s degree) in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering + Meaningful experience working with server platforms. + General understanding of memory/storage faults and fault modes + Windows/Linux driver/kernel development experience (C/C++) + Exposure to SDD/HDD validation + Ability to work independently and collaborate with a global team + Ability to distill complex information in simple, easy-to-understand ways + Historical demonstration of a growth mindset + 5+ years of memory/storage industry or enterprise/cloud server experience + B.S./M.S. degree in Computer Sciences or Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience. + Understanding of the storage protocols (NVMe, SAS, SATA). + Understand Specs, Test Procedures and execute them. + Debugging skills. Familiar with PCIe Analyzers, Logic analyzers, Oscilloscopes etc. + Familiar with lab test setups and hardware. Hardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
