About the Team

Business Technology Design Team supports a portfolio of employee-facing experiences at Workday as well as technology supporting Workmates in a variety of roles - from Customer Support, to Sales and Marketing.

About the Role

As a Senior Researcher at Workday your focus will be on both big and small initiatives as well as long and near term decisions. You will be empowered to own and craft a research roadmap for Business Technology product portfolio, working closely with your partners to ensure research efforts are aligned with priorities.

You will be conducting research for the Business Technology portfolio of products. You will be working, across product teams to help them build features for their specific personas and periodically be fully embedded into specific product teams where research is needed.

Our ideal candidate is comfortable in at least one research method and can demonstrate ability in several others. We are looking for someone who can illustrate skills connecting research insights to business and product solutions. We are looking for a researcher with a consistent record of carrying out research projects and delivering on high quality, impactful insights. Building and maintaining strong, purposeful relationships with design, engineering, business and research partners is crucial. You can demonstrate experience leading complex research projects and mentoring more junior researchers.

About You

Strong Research Skills: You're comfortable with many UX research methods (like usability testing, interviews, surveys, field studies, and A/B testing) and know how to pick the right method for the right question. Experience combining different methods (qualitative and quantitative) is a big plus.

Proven Impact: A solid track record showing you've successfully planned, run, and delivered valuable research insights that led to real product and business improvements.

AI/ML Research Experience : Specific experience in researching user experiences related to AI, machine learning, or generative AI applications. Understanding the challenges and opportunities of designing and researching smart systems is a significant advantage.

Strategic Thinker: You can connect small user details to big business goals, spotting strategic chances to improve things.

Excellent Communicator: You can explain complex ideas and research findings clearly and persuasively, both in writing and speaking, to technical and non-technical audiences.

Team Player: You enjoy working closely with different teams and building consensus.

Mentor & Leader: You have experience leading complex research projects and genuinely want to help other researchers grow.

Adaptable: You're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing many priorities, and proactively finding research needs.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or significant experience conducting UX research with meaningful business impact.

8+ years of experience working in technology or related fields as a UX research practitioner or leader.

Knowledge and understanding of evaluative, generative, quantitative and secondary research methods, and proficiency in at least one research methodology.

A strong familiarity with the product development process.

Other Qualifications

Master degree or PHD preferred

Track record of translating research into business impact.

Effective interpersonal skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences.

A flexible and effective influencing style.

Ability to meet bold timelines.

Self-starter and strong finisher with a positive demeanor.

Excellent collaborator, at ease partnering with other researchers, designers, product managers, and developers.


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $140,800 USD - $211,200 USD


 

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $133,800 USD - $237,600 USD
