The Environmental Team is currently seeking an Underwriter whose primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks in the Environmental space.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with Regional Manager, Underwriting Team and other unit and region colleaguesExecute regional marketing and sales strategies including prospecting, cross sell and upsell initiativesLocal and regional agency and broker visitations/travelSolicit new and renewal submissions from brokersDetermine terms, conditions and pricing using approved rating plans, underwriting guidelines and authority structuresAdhere to all underwriting standards and guidelines as outlined by the Division including all applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities and Position PapersBind coverage and adhere to guidelines for accurate and timely policy issuance, accurate premium booking and billing, manuscript form and endorsement processes, and file construction and documentationDocuments the underwriting files thoroughly and accuratelySenior Underwriter will handle more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authorityBachelor’s degree3-5 years underwriting or related environmental experience (broking, consulting, engineering, etc.)Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and proceduresFundamentals of coverage, terms, and conditions: Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the company while meeting the needs of the customerRisk Assessment: Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify lossesFinancial proficiency: Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets. Ability to understand credit riskMarketing and Communications: Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage producer strategyProficient oral and written communication skills
The pay range for the role is $97,000 to $164,900. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
