About the Role:
Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) is seeking a Senior UI & Design Systems Designer to lead the creation, evolution, and stewardship of our cross-platform design system. This role is central to ensuring visual consistency, interaction clarity, and implementation precision across Lenovo’s portfolio of intelligent devices and experiences.
As a senior contributor, you will partner closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to oversee the development of the design system and create pixel-perfect scalable UI components, variants, system-level patterns, and detailed documentation. You will drive efforts to define and maintain a unified system that balances brand, usability, accessibility, and technical feasibility across multiple products and teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the ongoing development and maintenance of a design system, including components, variants, component architecture, tokens, and documentation.Partner with design and engineering to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and seamless translation of UI components into code.Define system guidelines, usage patterns, and best practices that support consistency, accessibility, and design quality.Audit and refine components based on cross-product needs, feedback, and evolving platform requirements.Serve as a primary point of contact for designers and engineers using the system, providing guidance, support, and system onboarding.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment between design intent and front-end execution.Advocate for system scalability, visual excellence, and thoughtful evolution across the product ecosystem.Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in design systems, or product design with a very strong systems focusDemonstrated experience managing and evolving large-scale design systems in FigmaStrong attention to detail and visual design skills with deep attention to detail in typography, spacing, layout, and interaction best practices.Experience working closely with design and engineering teams to deliver high-fidelity, production-ready UI components.Bachelor's degree in Design, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.A strong portfolio showcasing your work and design skills is required for consideration.Preferred Qualifications
Solid understanding of component logic, design tokens, accessibility standards, and responsive behaviors.Excellent documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.Experience supporting multi-platform products across web, desktop, or device interfacesFamiliarity with tools and processes for design-to-code alignment (e.g., Storybook, Chromatic, Zeroheight, design token workflows)Basic understanding of front-end technologies and implementation considerations (e.g., HTML/CSS, React, Android, or native frameworks)Experience scaling or modernizing existing design systems in complex organizationsPassion for mentoring others in system usage and best practicesExperience building systems for global scaleAbout the Team:You’ll join Lenovo’s global AI Ecosystems team—a multidisciplinary group shaping the next generation of intelligent experiences across hardware and software. Reporting to the Director of Design, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing strategic clarity and design cohesion to Lenovo’s AI product vision. The base salary budgeted range for this position is $140-190k. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. This role will join us at our Chicago, IL or Morrisville, NC locations on a hybrid schedule onsite 3 days/week.
