Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer
Join our dynamic Transportation team in Virginia and play a key role in redefining how people and goods move. As a Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of roadway designers, traffic engineers, planners, and operations experts to deliver innovative, multimodal solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The final candidate could be located in Reston, Richmond or Virginia Beach, Virginia. What You’ll Do: • Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors. • Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools like Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies. • Prepare and present high-quality technical reports to clients in both virtual and in-person settings. • Apply a multimodal lens to every project—accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments. When you join us, you'll bring: • Deep knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation planning, and operations analysis. • Proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation tools. • Strong communication skills for client engagement and project presentations. • Excellent writing skills • Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team. #LI-LM1236 • Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. • Significant experience in traffic engineering and analysis. • Hands-on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools. • Proven ability to lead on-call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
