ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Transportation Project Manager - Newark, NJ| Manasquan, NJ| Princeton, NJ

 

VHB is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to join our vibrant and growing consulting practice in New Jersey. We are looking for someone with a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and innovative thinking, who would play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

 

Successful candidates will work with our Transportation, State/Local Government, Real Estate, and Institutional Market Sectors to win and execute projects in both the public and private sectors within the State of New Jersey. The candidate will support in developing and shaping the Mobility department, and must demonstrate their abilities for strategic thinking, business development, professional networking, and experience with developing and maintaining key client and teaming partner relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

Manage a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projectsManage staff and provide technical and professional development of staffManage client relationshipsLead the development, analysis (including modeling efforts), and evaluation of traffic improvements Attend meetings to present and share ideas with agencies, clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders Prepare, review, and deliver analysis findings/technical reports, concerns, and recommendations in a collaborative environment Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partnersDevelop new project opportunities and prepare and manage proposal submissionsOversee project execution including project plan development, tracking and communicating project status and progress, managing resources and approach, and monitoring schedule and budget. 

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated Attention to detailAbility to think critically Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports, and memorandaAbility to balance multiple concurrent assignments Ability to manage projects and also perform QA/QC tasks and ensure project controlsAbility to train, mentor and lead staff on a wide range of project assignmentsExcel in working in a team environmentExperience with HCS and Synchro requiredExperience with VISSIM or Aimsun is a plusExperience with VBA, PYTHON, SQL and databases a plusExperience with AutoCAD or MicroStation a plusExperience working on traffic safety/Vision Zero initiatives and active transportation projects a plus. 

Qualifications:

BS in Civil Engineering required, MS a plusA strong background in traffic engineering, project management, and prior supervision of professional staff11 - 15 years of transportation experience, (experience in the NJ/NYC area would be preferred)Experience with working with major transportation agencies in NJ/NYC/Pennsylvania area such as NJDOT, NJTPA, NJTA, SJTPO, DVRPC, and the PANYNJ would be preferredRegistration as a professional engineer in the State of New Jersey (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)Substantial technical project experience and project management experienceAdditional experience in South Jersey/Philadelphia area a plus.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New Jersey is 160,000-190,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
