Senior Translator (Translations Specialist) - Officer

Job Overview

Working as part of the APAC Translations team (based in HK) in a busy 18/7 department that supports English to Chinese, and vice versa translations services to internal clients within the Institutional Clients Group (i.e. Investment Bank, Markets, Transaction Services, Private Bank, etc.) and various other clients within Citi.

Translations responsibilities:

Provide high-quality translation of time-sensitive and confidential materials from English to Chinese for Mainland China / Hong Kong / Taiwan markets and vice versa.  Translations of various types of documents, e.g. Pitch books, presentations, correspondences, regular market updates and other materials that may be related to the business

Leverage translation tools, including AI-powered tools, to ensure efficient and accurate delivery

Provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Interact with clients and gather details on job requests as required from time to time

Discuss with Supervisor to clearly understand deadlines and instructions for processing a document properly

Complete job tracking and monthly billing requirements as part of the workflow process

Qualifications:

Min. 3 years of experience as a professional translator, in Financial field preferred

Translations speed of 3,500 words per day manually, or 6,000 words per day with translation tools

Highly proficient in both English and Chinese languages (oral and written communications inclusive)

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)

Proficiency in Machine Translation (MT) post-editing

Familiarity with AI-powered translation tools and platforms

University graduate in related field

Master degree in linguistics preferred

Workflow responsibilities:

Support Front Desk activities as and when required to support Supervisor and coordinate with internal clients or external suppliers for job distribution, proof reading etc.

Primary point of contact for clients, responsible for assigning incoming work to the appropriate resources.Interacts with clients and gathers detailed information on job requests (e.g. deadlines, instructions, billing details)

Manages the department mailbox and job dashboard accordingly and is responsible for doing assigning jobs and also hand over to next shifts

Handle translation projects to ensure deadlines are met, prioritize workload and makes adjustment to meet business needs as required, where necessary negotiates deadlines

Provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced, multi-shift production environment

Communicate effectively with clients and translators supplier, suppliers locally and globally regarding queries on documents

Provide clear directions to translators on deadlines and document processing

Establish an inclusive and positive team-oriented work environment

Other Responsibilities

Complete administrative duties for billing and tracking jobs including supplier billing by job

Buddies new joiners post-training

Proofread work done by team members or suppliers to meet clients’ requirements

In absence of a Supervisor allocate global resources effectively to run the department smoothly and efficiently

Establish strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and work across businesses, functional and / or regional lines to provide clients with integrated solutions that meet and / or exceed the needs
