Senior Trade Compliance (US) City Ciudad de Mexico State/Province Distrito Federal Overview:

Celanese is seeking a Senior Specialist, U.S. Trade Compliance to lead strategic trade initiatives in the U.S. This role focuses on mastering all U.S. trade concepts, developing beneficial trade strategies, and interfacing with internal stakeholders to align compliance with business objectives. The Senior Specialist will leverage deep expertise in U.S. customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, and free trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), while utilizing digital tools like SAP GTS, Excel, and SharePoint to drive data-driven strategies and stakeholder collaboration. 

Responsibilities: Develop and implement U.S.-focused trade compliance strategies, optimizing duty savings and operational efficiency through free trade agreements, duty drawback, tariff management, and strategic sourcing.Serve as the U.S. trade subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with all U.S. concepts, including CBP regulations, tariff classification, customs valuation, origin determination, export controls (e.g., ITAR, EAR), and sanctions (e.g., OFAC).Interface with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, procurement, legal, finance, manufacturing) to align trade strategies with business goals, providing actionable insights and recommendations.Utilize SAP GTS to configure and optimize U.S.-specific trade processes, ensuring seamless integration with internal systems and compliance with regulatory requirements.Create advanced digital reports and dashboards (e.g., compliance KPIs, duty spend analysis) by synthesizing multi-source data (e.g., SAP, CBP data, internal ERP systems) using Excel and SAP analytics tools.Manage SharePoint platforms to facilitate collaboration with internal stakeholders, automate workflows, and maintain U.S. trade documentation for strategic initiatives.Assess and mitigate U.S.-specific trade risks (e.g., audits, sanctions violations, supply chain disruptions) using predictive analytics and stakeholder input.Advocate internally for trade policy changes and process improvements, presenting data-driven strategies to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.Monitor U.S. trade policy developments (e.g., Section 301 tariffs, trade remedies) and advise stakeholders on their strategic impact on Celanese operations.Support cross-border trade initiatives (e.g., U.S.-Mexico, U.S.-Canada) by collaborating with regional teams and leveraging USMCA benefits.Mentor junior team members on U.S. trade concepts and digital tools, fostering a culture of strategic excellence. Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree5+ years of experience in trade compliance, with a focus on strategy development and stakeholder engagementExpert mastery of U.S. trade concepts, including:U.S. Customs Service (CBP) regulations, tariff classification, valuation, and origin rules.Free trade agreement qualification (e.g., USMCA) and optimization.Export controls (e.g., ITAR, EAR) and sanctions compliance (e.g., OFAC).Trade remedies (e.g., antidumping, countervailing duties) and U.S. trade policy.Strong strategic planning skills with a proven ability to align trade compliance with business objectives.Demonstrated experience interfacing with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, legal, finance) to drive trade-related outcomes.Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.SAP or any ERP systemFluency in English.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

Licensed Customs Broker preferred but not required.Other languages are a plus for cross-border collaboration.U.S. Trade compliance experienceAdvanced Excel skills (e.g., VBA, Power Pivot, dashboards) for multi-source data analysis and strategic reporting.Expert-level SharePoint skills (e.g., site design, automation, stakeholder collaboration tools).
