We are seeking an experienced Senior Testing Specialist to join a high-profile Synapse migration and platform modernisation project for our client in Central London. This is a business-critical role, requiring a hands-on professional with a proven track record in data migration testing, ETL validation, and Azure-based solutions.

You will be instrumental in ensuring data integrity, performance, and compliance throughout the migration process, working closely with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver a robust and successful transition.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Design, document, and execute detailed test plans for the Synapse migration. Perform large-scale data validation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Validate ETL processes and confirm functionality of data dependencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, document, and resolve defects. Maintain clear documentation of test outcomes, issue tracking, and resolution logs. Validate security and access control policies, ensuring compliance throughout migration. Integrate automated testing within CI/CD pipelines. Conduct performance testing to confirm system scalability and stability post-migration.

  

Essential Skills & Experience:

Extensive experience in enterprise-level data migration testing. Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and data pipelines. Expert SQL skills for complex query writing and validation. Proven expertise with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Snowflake. Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks. Solid understanding of data transformations and source-to-target validation. Exposure to integration, exploratory, and performance testing methodologies. Strong documentation and communication skills. Experience collaborating with third-party vendors.

 

Nice to have skills:

Performance tuning and query optimisation experience. Python scripting for test automation. Familiarity with Visual Studio, C#, xUnit, Azure DevOps (ADO), and Git. Power BI experience, especially in repointing reports to Snowflake.
