Opportunity for a Senior Technologist, Product Development, Pet Research & Development

Lead development and qualification for small to medium complexity business initiatives. Work independently to develop test plans, generate accurate data, and identify and track critical observations. Work is typically “hands on,” at the benchtop, in a lab, in a plant or pilot plant, at a critical site, on a computer or with consumers. Occasionally direct the technical work of others and lead cross-functional technical teams.

Work Arrangements: Hybrid 60% or more in office presence as business need requires and may require 25% travel.

In this role you will:

Independently develop test plans. Generate sound, accurate and reproducible data working hands-on in various settings; make critical observations. Summarize key findings, recognize, and report unexpected results, and recommend next steps. Recognize discrepancies and investigate problems with minimal help from resources. May lead technical readiness for small to medium complexity initiatives. Communicate results both orally and in writing to supervisor, key project members, and higher levels of management Independently work across disciplines, functions and with outside vendors Support the R&D team with additional responsibilities as needed. 

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering2 years of product development experience, with 3+ years preferred. Open to consider less experience when combined with advanced STEM degree(s).Demonstrates knowledge and expertise; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skillsStrong organizational, critical thinking and creativity skillsEffective presentation, verbal, and written communication skillsProficient in establishing and adhering to proceduresWork with quality/safety in mindAbility to work under moderate supervision within guidelines and processesStrong time management skills

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

Experience with pet food and/or pet snack formulation and product developmentExperience with food processes, e.g., extrusion, baking, or thermal processing.Experience in food manufacturing environment.Coursework on Nutrition.
