Position Summary 

The Senior Technician position involves performing general functions in support of lab operations, and may also perform non-product testing, mentor and train more junior colleagues, participate in scheduling planning and project activities. This position works in alternating weekly shifts (1st: 0600-1430 hrs., 2nd:1300- 2130 hrs.) 

 
General Responsibilities 

Perform general functions to support lab operations such as housekeeping, alarm acknowledgement, reagent preparation, inventory management, material and reagent ordering, and execution of work orders. 

Ensure samples and materials are appropriately labelled and maintain sample tracking, labelling and chain of custody records in accordance with written procedures. 

Follow lab procedures to maintain a safe and organized lab.   

May represent the department during regulatory inspections (or internal and external audits). 

May perform some non-product testing (e.g. raw material visual inspection, Environmental monitoring sampling) as required for role type. 

Will be required to perform data review for some activities 

Communicate sample management operational activities with lab and manufacturing teams. 

Supports no impact deviation investigations and laboratory investigations through data gathering or interview process.  

Support or may author revisions to lab documents for managerial review and approval.  

Record and monitors performance metrics  

Trains colleagues in the execution of tasks & general job duties.

Provides input into scheduling of assignments by the team lead / manager. 

Contributes to and leads simple projects within the team. Also contributes to complex projects. 

Actively and positively learns and participates in Operational Excellence (OpEx) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives in the team.   Positive, supportive, and actively collaborates within the team. 

Complete all required tasks compliantly and safely while consistently and intentionally modeling BMS values (Integrity, Accountability, Passion, Urgency, Innovation, and Inclusion).

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management regarding task completion, roadblocks, and needs.

Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting timelines 

Knowledge of basic electronic systems (email, MS Office, etc.) and lab data systems (e.g. LIMS) required. 

Ability to interpret and apply cGMPs, USP, regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

• Secondary Level school / High school diploma/GED or equivalent with some direct relevant experience (≥3 year); or 

• Associates Degree in a technical, scientific discipline with ≥2 years experience; or 

• Bachelors Degree in a non-technical discipline with ≥1 years experience 

An equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a regulated environment, will be considered.
