Visual Studio Code (VS Code) is Microsoft’s open-source AI code editor known for its flexibility and strong support for AI-enabled, agentic development. By integrating advanced AI tools like code completion, refactoring, and coding agents powered by GitHub Copilot, VS Code is transforming how developers work—automating tasks, encouraging experimentation, and streamlining collaboration. Agentic developer tools extend far beyond editors, encompassing the entire developer lifecycle—from ideation to deployment—and include innovations such as GitHub Copilot coding agent that acts as a pair programmer by performing asynchronous work alongside developers.
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to be advocate for these technologies, who will help developers worldwide leverage AI-driven development, guiding them through this rapidly changing landscape, and inspiring innovation.
A Senior Technical Program Manager has equal technical and people skills with an interest in AI developer tools and making connections about these tools just as much. The right candidate would be a software developer interested in sharing their knowledge and interests with other developers. Finally, they will actively collaborate with the product teams to drive feedback from engagements and collaborate with community members to build an inclusive environment where all feel welcome.

**Responsibilities**
+ Deliver technical presentations to developer audiences around VS Code, GitHub Copilot, and other AI developer tools.
+ Work side-by-side with the program management and engineering teams to drive the direction of AI developer tools from Microsoft.
+ Collaborate with community members and help build communities around VS Code, GitHub Copilot, and adjacent products from Microsoft.
+ Generate technical content for a variety of channels (website, blog, social media, events) such as How to / tips and tricks, samples, product deep dives, demos, screencasts, interesting stories.
+ Be on the constant lookout for opportunities to increase Microsoft’s visibility and leadership in the AI developer tools space.
+ Represent Microsoft at industry events.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in software engineering, product/technical program management, or product development
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
+ A portfolio of demonstrable software development projects, demos and repos.
+ 2+ years of experience coding in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python along with front-end or back-end web development experience.
+ Required knowledge of current AI developer tools space and ability to demonstrate deep understanding of how AI shapes the developer lifecycle.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience working with a range of AI developer tools including VS Code, GitHub Copilot, and other frameworks, tools, and/or services.
+ Experience with client-side browser architecture and understanding of how web standards are made.
+ Experience building and delivering full stack web applications.
+ Customer advocate with high agency and extreme ownership mindsets.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
