The Senior Tax Specialist – Special Projects/Tax Compliance provides assistance with a wide range of income tax compliance items in addition to supporting the Research and Development (“R&D”) tax credit study. The Senior Specialist would also be responsible for supporting various tax planning and compliance projects to help ensure Schwab meets all of its tax obligations. This is an individual contributor role.
What you’ll do:
Individual will assist the audit and compliance teams in a variety of tasks which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Project manage R&D tax credit study including coordination with outsourced providers and internal business partners, inclusive of managing the overall R&D project workstreams, scheduling interviews and preparing status reportsPrepare state R&D calculations and return filingsPrepare and review income tax returns, state apportionment calculation, and other supporting calculationsPrepare and review income tax estimated payments and extensionsRespond to federal and state income tax notices and provide income tax audit supportAssist with research projects that stem from tax planning opportunitiesWork collaboratively on a cross-functional basis to identify and implement process improvementsAssist Senior Manager and Director with ad hoc projectsWhat you haveTo ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
Experience with R&D credit calculation Experience interacting effectively with external service providers and ability to collaborate across business partners Excellent analytical, project management and organizational skillsCorptax Income Tax software experience Experience with PeopleSoft or equivalent G/L system Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalentMust have current working experience with Schwab systems and processes3-5 years related experienceExperience with federal and state & local income tax complianceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsIn-depth Excel and tax software knowledgeMust be self-sufficient, a great teammate, and work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.Preferred Qualifications
