Senior Tax Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Manager to lead our tax operations and drive strategic tax initiatives. This role is responsible for managing comprehensive tax functions including federal and state income tax accruals, premium tax processes, technical tax research, and ad hoc payments and filings. The Senior Tax Manager will also oversee the relationship with our third-party tax service provider, PwC, and manage one internal tax team member.

This is a high-impact role that collaborates closely with PwC tax specialists and internal Controllers to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy across all tax-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and review tax accruals for federal income tax, state income tax, and premium tax, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Prepare and support income tax footnotes and related financial disclosures.Conduct technical tax research and provide actionable guidance on complex tax matters in conjunction with PwC.Oversee ad hoc tax payments and filings, maintaining compliance with all regulatory deadlines.Manage the relationship with PwC, ensuring alignment on deliverables, timelines, and strategic priorities.Supervise and mentor one internal tax team member, fostering growth and accountability.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on tax planning, compliance, and audit support.Enhance and maintain internal controls related to tax processes and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MST preferred.Minimum of 6 years of experience in federal income tax, ideally within a corporate or public accounting environment.Deep understanding of U.S. tax laws and regulations.Proven ability to lead projects, manage cross-functional relationships, and develop team members.Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.Experience with tax software, Workday, and ERP systems is a plus.Insurance industry experience is a plus.


 

Annual Salary

$136,325.00 - $212,175.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
