Where the team fits in
REA Group is a Top 100 taxpayer under the ATO’s Justified Trust framework. The Senior Tax Adviser will be a key member of the REA tax team, with opportunities to leverage and grow their current tax knowledge.
The Senior Tax Adviser will work alongside the core finance team with a focus on delivering tax advice to the REA Australian and international businesses including tax advisory, tax compliance, and reporting. The role will also encompass formulating, evaluating and implementing processes for compliance within REA’s tax governance framework and policies.
What the role is all about
Develop awareness of tax technical, tax advisory and tax compliance matters across REA Group’s business and corporate structure
Assist our income tax compliance and reporting manager to ensure REA's tax compliance, tax reporting (actuals and budget/forecast) including tax-effect accounting requirements are met to high standards, both on a stand-alone company and consolidated group level
Act as a key team member to support our Top 100 ATO income tax and GST reviews, gaining a rapid and deep knowledge of the history of REA’s business, and tax positions
Identify and implement tax strategies and initiatives across REA’s business in Australia, and internationally
Provide tax technical and advisory support on M&A, disposals, and restructuring
Addressing transfer pricing, country by country reporting, and other cross-border tax issues, and supporting and documenting our positions
Assist our indirect and specialist tax leader with non-income taxes including GST, FBT and other taxes as required (both Australian and international)
Support the collation of R&D incentive documentation and assist with project management
Build working relationships with our external advisory firms (tax, audit/accounting, legal) assisting the team to ensure alignment with REA’s tax risk appetite
Assist engagement with employment taxes, including cross-border movements, and risk reviews with People & Culture
Drive excellence in tax governance processes and controls - ensure ongoing compliance with tax protocols through establishment of key governance metrics
Prepare board packs and other tax reporting to leadership;
Initiating tax dashboards, and focussing on tools to improve use of available technology, including Alteryx
Who we’re looking for
Minimum 4 years tax experience gained in a professional accounting firm (Chartered - Big 4 or second tier) and/or large corporate
Competency in tax technical and compliance matters
Experience in advising on M&A transactions is highly regarded
Experience in developing tax governance procedures for multinational, listed corporate groups is highly regarded
Specialist knowledge in large corporate tax matters, including cross-border and international tax issues
Tax compliance experience, including preparing and reviewing company tax returns for large corporate groups
Proficiency in tax-effect accounting and working knowledge of Accounting Standards
Flexibility in managing multiple deadlines, and tight timeframes
Experience using business uses of GenAI, and tax technology
Strong communication skills, and presentation experience
