**Description** SAIC is seeking an experienced **Senior Systems Engineer** to join our infrastructure team in Huntsville, AL. This role is perfect for a technical leader who thrives on designing, implementing, and optimizing complex systems at scale. You'll be instrumental in driving our technological advancement while mentoring junior team members and collaborating across departments to deliver robust, scalable solutions. **The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following:** + Lead system architecture decisions and technology stack evaluations + Design, implement, and maintain large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure + Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operations and deployments + Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies + Troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple environments (dev, staging, production) + Collaborate with development teams to ensure system reliability and scalability + Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices + Participate in on-call rotation and incident response procedures + Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation + Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve system efficiency + Ensure security compliance and implement security best practices + Lead capacity planning and resource allocation initiatives **Qualifications** **Required Education:** + Bachelor's degree and thirteen (13) years’ experience; additional four (4) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree **Required Clearance:** + Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required **Required Skills:** + Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration + Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) + Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) + Understanding of networking protocols and security principles + Experience with monitoring and logging tools + Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities REQNUMBER: 2509341 SAIC is a premier technology integrator, solving our nation's most complex modernization and systems engineering challenges across the defense, space, federal civilian, and intelligence markets.
