We combine deep domain expertise with a passion for innovation to deliver both digital and physical solutions for our customers. You will technically engage with our customers and partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations. You will lead teams of systems engineers, software developers, hardware engineers, and testers. **How will you make a difference?** As a Technical Project and Systems Lead, you will drive the successful delivery of complex, integrated hardware and software systems for the Rail/Transit industry. You’ll lead cross-functional engineering teams, apply systems engineering best practices, and ensure alignment with customer requirements and project goals. You’ll work closely with project management, business development, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to define system architectures, manage requirements, and oversee integration and validation activities. You’ll also support proposal development and customer engagement efforts. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and regularly presents technical progress and risk assessments to senior leadership and external stakeholders. **What do we want to know about you?** _You must have:_ + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, Product Management or a closely related discipline + Minimum of 8 years of experience development with aspects of the systems/software development life cycle + Minimum of 4 years of experience as a technical project manager, software, or test lead + Tools: + Working knowledge of requirements management tool (e.g. DOORS or equivalent) + Working knowledge of project planning and scheduling tool (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, or similar) _We would love it if you had:_ + Technical domains: rail signaling, SCADA systems, system/network architecture, VMWare, relational databases + Methodologies: IEC62443-4-1 cybersecurity process + Tools: MS Threat Modeling, VSCode, System Modeling, Jira/Jenkins/Gitlab + Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Project Management Professional (PMP) + Key Competencies + Strong leadership and team coordination skills + Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement + Analytical thinking and problem-solving + Ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity + Commitment to quality and continuous improvement **What will your typical day look like?** + Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across software, hardware, and systems domains to deliver integrated solutions. + Analyze, trace, and ensure adherence to system requirements on all assigned projects through the development and maintenance of the requirements traceability matrix. + Evaluate, analyze, and document all explicit and implicit system operational use cases and scenarios through interaction with all stakeholders on assigned projects. + Ensure system and subsystem design meet the system requirements through development of documentation, participation in design reviews, and constant communication with other functional disciplines on assigned projects. + Develop a strong understanding of the technical solution within each functional discipline and maintain that understanding as the technical solutions are enhanced and mature. + Adhere to ISO, CMMI, and internal engineering standards in performing day to day activities on assigned projects. + Development and maintain the engineering management plan for assigned projects, including engineering schedules, budget plans, and staffing plans. + Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities on all assigned projects and work with the project manager to develop risk mitigation strategies. + Work closely with the project manager to ensure cost, schedule, and quality performance on assigned projects. + Monitor and report project engineering performance to leadership through formal status reviews and develop project corrective action plans to improve project performance when necessary. + Conduct trade studies to evaluate emerging technologies and alternative solutions. + Organize and direct assigned project team members from other functional disciplines to ensure schedule adherence, timely issue resolution, and proper prioritization of tasks. + Assist business development with bid and proposal opportunities through development of compliance matrices, technical solution, cost estimation, and proposal documentation. **What about the physical demands of the job?** + Employee is regularly required to talk and hear + Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods + Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers + Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned + Able and willing to work from a Wabtec office location on a hybrid basis + Occasional travel (up to 5% domestically and internationally) You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. The salary range for this role is between $89,100.00-$126,900.00 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
