The Opportunity
This role sits within the Strategy and Solutions Chapter, which encompasses a number of different strategic and innovative teams. Our purpose is to guide strategic priorities, advance value delivery through solutions and digital excellence, govern compliance and drive sustainability to deliver continuous improvement and strengthen Global Procurement’s impact on the wider Roche organization.
Within the Strategy and Solutions Chapter, the Global Procurement Sustainability, Compliance & Risk team is focused on enabling Roche to deliver against its Sustainability ambitions and targets, while ensuring a resilient and compliant supply chain.
As Senior Sustainability Manager you will report to the Sustainable Procurement Lead and act as a sustainability thought leader, identifying opportunities for transformational projects, actively identifying and solving problems and influencing change through exceptional communication.
The Senior Sustainability Manager will build a network across the broader organization to ensure that we contribute towards Roche's Global Sustainability Strategy and Goals. In this role, you will drive towards a standardized sustainable approach across the entire supplier and procurement lifecycle.
In addition, The Senior Sustainability Manager will endeavour to push existing boundaries in Roche sustainable procurement practices, by translating external research and best practices into realistic, tangible and pragmatic business goals. This role works collaboratively across functions and divisions and plays a key role in shaping and leading work packages of the Sustainable Procurement Strategy and Supplier Engagement Programme, partnering effectively with internal and external stakeholders, embedding sustainability into Global Procurement's processes and building an awareness and culture of sustainability within Roche.

As Senior Sustainability Manager you will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge and general business requirements, including but not limited to these core responsibilities:
Manage, deploy and upskill GP on the Sustainable Procurement framework in collaboration with key stakeholders in an engaging, efficient and impactful manner.
Contribute to the Sustainability Technology activities by defining requirements and supporting the deployment to ensure Sustainable Procurement and Supplier Engagement can be managed in an effective and insight driven manner.
Support the development of Net Zero Finance Instruments, which supports Roche in allocating financial resources in line with our climate ambition, and drive its implementation in Procurement.
Drive sustainability improvements across the supply base in alignment with Roche’s sustainability and supplier management strategies and ambitions, through research, education and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Engage and partner with suppliers on sustainability related aspects
Develop, enhance, oversee and drive adoption of relevant systems, processes, tools, training and other related sustainability materials.
Who you are
You hold a university degree in business or life science preferred, and have significant experience in procurement, sustainability, supplier chain management, and/or finance
Excellent project management and interactive skills, including ability to define clear outcomes, translate them into actions and excite relevant stakeholders to partner with the team
Strong analytical, data analytics and technology (e.g. AI, Procurement core systems) related experience
Business level fluency in English and exceptional communication and influencing skills
Understanding of financial processes and instruments
Strong ability to simplify, explain complex information to others or translate complex stakeholder requirements in situations requiring alignment and consensus
You strive to act as an enterprise thinker and leverage knowledge and expertise to create solutions for procurement and business customers by proactively fostering collaboration. You are action-oriented and can make decisions and influence others to do the same; you repurpose work and ideas in favor of starting from scratch.
