Arcadis is seeking Senior Surveillance Officers (Inspectors) with experince in major road and rail infrastructure projects to join our independent assurance teams based. These roles are based on some of South East Queensland’s most significant transport infrastructure projects and involve overseeing day-to-day site operations while supporting Arcadis’ responsibilities in Contract Administration, Independent Verification, and/or Independent Certification of contractor works. Site Surveillance & Quality Assurance
Conduct on-site inspections and technical audits of road, bridge, and structural works in accordance with TMR specifications. Provide day-to-day surveillance of contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved management plans, technical specifications, and quality procedures. Attend and document witness and hold points, verifying that works meet required standards before progressing. Monitor contractor and supplier adherence to Quality Management Plans, welding procedures, and safety/environmental protocols.Issue Identification & Resolution
Identify and investigate non-conformances, assess their severity, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence. Provide real-time feedback on construction issues to project teams and stakeholders, supporting timely resolution and continuous improvement.Documentation & Reporting
Maintain comprehensive site records, including daily diaries, photographic evidence, test results, and inspection reports. Compile high-quality documentation suitable for legal, contractual, and compliance purposes. Prepare reports and records related to safety, environment, traffic, and quality performance.Stakeholder Communication & Support
Communicate effectively with the Principal, Contract Administrators, Senior Engineers, and contractors to report on progress, quality, and emerging issues. Provide guidance and training to on-site project teams to ensure a clear understanding of quality and compliance requirements. Support Project Engineers, Managers, and Directors in delivering successful project outcomes.System Development & Risk Management
Assist in the development and refinement of inspection and reporting systems. Identify project risks and issues early, supplying detailed information to contractors and internal teams to support proactive management. Qualification & Experience:First and foremost, you understand that communication is the key to success in our industry. Sound technical understanding of the site-based requirements for civil and structural and/or rail construction projects. Current TMR Pre-Qualification for Contract Administration and Verification of road infrastructure projects – ideally at the highest level. These may include the following classificaitons: Inspector (Structures) Level 2 (IS02) Inspector (Structures) Level 3 (IS03) Inspector (Roadworks) Level 2 (IR02) Inspector (Roadworks) Level 3 (IR03) Well-rounded communication skills and the ability to modify your approach to achieve positive outcomes with diverse stakeholder teams including clients and contractors. Demonstrated understanding of state-based standards, particularly with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and/or Queensland Rail (QR). Current or eligible to obtain Rail Industry Worker (RIW) accreditation. A strong teamwork ethos; you’ll join a team that pride themselves on working together to achieve the best outcome. Experience on road transport, heavy rail and light rail projects will be highly regarded. Personnel with both sound general infrastructure experience or with specialist experience in structural, pre-cast, geotechnical, pavements and earthworks aspects, or mechanical and electrical components of major transport infrastructure will be highly regarded.Why Arcadis?
