We are seeking a Senior Subsea Materials Engineer to join a highly experienced team delivering cutting-edge solutions across offshore oil & gas and CCS (carbon capture and storage) projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in materials selection, welding engineering, corrosion control, coatings, cathodic protection, and fitness-for-service assessments for subsea pipeline systems and equipment.
You will report to the Materials Team Lead and work across multiple project phases including design, FEED, detailed engineering, fabrication, installation, and lifecycle integrity support.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver specialist engineering support in materials, welding, and corrosion for subsea and pipeline systems, risers, manifolds, and related structures.
Perform materials selection, including CRA systems, duplex/super duplex, nickel alloys, and carbon steels, based on technical and economic factors.
Develop and review specifications related to welding procedures, inspection plans, coatings, and cathodic protection.
Conduct and interpret Engineering Critical Assessments (ECA) and support non-destructive examination (NDE) strategies.
Provide failure investigations, root cause analysis, and technical recommendations.
Interface with clients, vendors, fabricators, and certifying bodies to ensure engineering solutions comply with DNV, API, ISO, and other relevant standards.
Contribute to project risk assessments (e.g., HAZID, HAZMAT), material compatibility reviews, and lifecycle integrity plans.
Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team.
RequirementsBachelor's or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
International Welding Engineer (IWE) qualification – mandatory.
15+ years of engineering experience, with a significant focus on subsea materials and welding.
Proven track record in consulting or engineering services, preferably with EPCs or specialist consultancies.
Deep knowledge of DNV-OS-F101, API 5L, ISO 15156, ISO 13628, and related standards.
Hands-on background in NDE, coatings, cathodic protection, and CRA systems.
Strong communication and client interfacing skills.
Desirable SkillsChartered Engineer status (e.g. CEng, RPEQ, CPEng).
Knowledge of CCS project environments.
Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
