Role Description:

Arcadis is currently searching for a Structural Engineer, with 10 to 15 years’ experience, to join our Water Business line team in our Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, or Detroit office. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our team with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Structural Engineer, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of structural engineering to successful lead the structural portion of Water projects to help grow our structural team/capabilities within the Water business line.

Role accountabilities:

In the role, you will lead structural efforts on water/wastewater design and construction projects; responsible for leading/producing/reviewing design calculations, technical reports, permitting, detailed design and engineering plans and specifications for Water/Wastewater projects including; plant upgrades, storage facilities, storm water systems, pump stations, and distribution / collection systems. Additional duties include:

Organize and lead structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well-defined scope. Guide and assist team in developing alternative design approaches. Work effectively in team situations and establishes strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists. Lead and mentor project staff / junior structural engineers who are assisting with project work. Develop scope of work, requests for proposals, project schedules, and budgets. Lead in production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects. Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office / project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle, and therefore should have clear and concise, oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports. Ability to exercise their own judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Some travel may be required to support project needs.

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil Engineering or a related field of study. Minimum of 10 years of experience. Professional/Structural Engineer License.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Must have strong structural analysis and design skills.  Experience with structural engineering related to a variety of W/WW industry and working knowledge of all building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, etc is essential.  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.   Skills to include; public speaking, ability to work as part of a team, preparation and development of technical documents, prior client involvement and/or relationship skills as part of the project team. Experience preparing, reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates.  experience in utilizing STAAD Pro and other structural software. Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software. Strong experience with MS Office applications.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
