Senior Structural Engineer

We don’t settle until we give our best and know that we’re making a difference.  Jacobs is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in the Northwest. You will support complex infrastructure and industrial projects involving welded steel tanks and pipe systems. You will also provide technical leadership, mentorship and development to the NW Infrastructure Department, quality assurance, and strategic guidance across multidisciplinary engineering teams. We’ll Expect You To: • Lead design reviews and provide expert guidance on welded steel tank and pipe systems. • Develop and validate welding procedures and specifications in accordance with ASME, API, and AWS standards. • Support design, fabrication, inspection, and testing phases to ensure compliance with project requirements. • Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and QA/QC teams to resolve technical challenges. • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge development. • Participate in client meetings and provide technical presentations as needed. • Minimum 18 years of experience in welding engineering, steel tank design, and welded steel pipe projects. • Extensive knowledge of ASME Section IX, API 650/653, AWS D1.1, AWWA D100 and related codes. • Proven experience in design, field inspections, fabrication oversight, and failure analysis. • Strong understanding of metallurgy, weld quality, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). • Professional Engineer (PE) license and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is a plus. Ideally, You’ll Also Have: • Experience with water/wastewater infrastructure or industrial facilities. • Familiarity with CAD tools and FEM software. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and MathCAD Prime.
