Prime Video is seeking an experienced Senior Storage Systems Engineer to join our Media Systems Engineering, Studios Technology team in Culver City, CA. In this role, you will work in a cross functional, interdependent team supporting production and post productions partners to define, build, implement and maintain business critical infrastructure for Studios teams globally. You will be responsible for designing and supporting storage systems and developing the future roadmap of these platforms.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement storage and server solutions optimized for Media & Entertainment workflows across local data centers and AWS.
- Research and evaluate new storage and server technologies.
- Develop scripts and/or tools for storage management automation and data movement solutions.
- Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and support large complex multi-platform storage and server environments.
- Manage, maintain and provide technical support for the infrastructure at editing facilities and remote work environments.
- Collaborate with business leaders and engineering teams to understand and document storage/server needs.
- Create clear technical documentation and visualizations that effectively communicate to both executive and technical audiences.

About the team
The Media Systems Engineering team focuses on building post-production environments, technology solutions, and on-premises/cloud-based infrastructure to automate, streamline, and optimize audio and video workflows throughout the entire content creation lifecycle at Amazon Studios/Prime Video.
Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
- Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields with specialty in multimedia areas.
- 5+ years of experience with studio or agency post production systems support.
- Prior experience and expertise with SAN and NAS systems (Stornext, Nexis, Isilon).
- Prior experience and knowledge of Avid, Adobe, Autodesk, BlackMagic Design, Filmlight and ColorFront content creation platforms.
- Prior experience and knowledge of AWS Storage options (Block, file, and object storage, along with hybrid and data migration solutions).
- Proficient in Red Hat Linux, CentOS, and comfortable using the command line interface.
- Experience with virtualization solutions, such as VMware ESXi.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
- Experience with supporting non linear editorials bays.
- Knowledge and familiarity with post production frameworks and workflows.
- Experience with editorial and mastering system integration.
- Experience in communicating with production and post production end-user stakeholder teams.
- Experience with video and audio routing systems.
- Expertise and experience with media containers, packaging and video transport structures (such as IMF, MXF, QuickTime, SMPTE ST2110, NDI, RTP)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
